Re: what would you do if these were your teeth?

I had kind of a similar problem to you. We both have smaller lateral upper incisors. Which makes less space for the upper jaw. With larger laterals, those gaps would fill in. FlyByNight - have you finished treatment? are you expecting a class 1 by the end? I definitely see what you're saying. My fr...

Re: Brushed gum away

I've always been a heavy brusher. When I was young I didn't brush with a certain technique so I damaged my front gums a bit. I worried it would get worse with braces but it actually got better after they were taken off. It was easier to floss and I adjusted to brushing normally again. My gums are de...

Re: Regrets

I regret brushing without technique as a child. I brushed my gums very hard and have noticed a bit of recession in the front. It has definitely slowed down and I managed to reduce the recession on the lower incisors. It's nowhere near an issue but still.

I love my Essix retainers. Never had a problem with them.

Re: Were you nervous to be debanded?

It hurts. I had the metal damons with 6 clear on the top. The molars were fine but the incisors hurt a bit. Lots of pressure. The clear brackets were bad getting off. They broke up when my ortho tried to break them off and he was working on those teeth most of the time.

Re: Archwire got short/shifted

For me, it got to the point where I was pushing the wire back in every time I ate something. It eventually snapped and my ortho just cut sharp ends off until the next appointment. Your rear molars really serve as anchors for the rest of the teeth. They're stubborn to move. If you can still push it b...

Re: Not happy with braces - nearing end of treatment

I've been there man. I got my braces off in August of last year. I had IPR done on my lower 4 incisors but they just didn't look right to me. Not only the incisors but the canines. They shaved them down to help my bite, which is near perfect now, but I think they grinded a little too much down. You ...

Re: Retainer Waiting Period

I'm surprised they would wait that long. I waited 2 hours for my Essix retainers. And in that time, I noticed a little bit of change. And the office was busy that day!

Re: Fixed Retainer Removal?

My ortho told me I would need a permanent upper and lower. I insisted in just getting the clear Essix retainers and luckily he respected my decision. I wish! My orthodontist gave me A LOT of pushback every time I voiced my opinion on this. You have very supportive orthodontists!! I realize that I m...

Re: Worried about the fast movement of my upper teeth

In my opinion, faster isn't always better. The quick movement can lead to root resorption and many other problems, but it's not always an issue.

Re: Not happy with results

My ortho got rid of the sharp edges on my lower canines. The others are still a bit wonky but I'm happier now.

Re: Upper Jaw Moved Too Far Forward?

I see nothing wrong with the result. Looks like a very normal profile. It could be you just aren't used to it.
