You might also be having trouble due to excess bonding/cement that might have crept into some of the spaces between your teeth. Give it some time and don't be surprised if you suddenly get a chunk of unknown hard substance floating around your mouth. As far as floss choice goes, I swear by the Crest...

Thanks for the reply brika. I'm actually looking forward to the 1st adjustment, if for no other reason than to ask for copies of my photos. At this point, I have no plans to change the colour choice for the ligatures and I'm guessing I'll get a stronger gauge wire, but after reading some posts on th...

Figured it was time say 'hello' and add my story to the pool...as the water looks fine! I'll begin by explaining my nickname: I am a professional opera singer an...

For years, I've used a combo of old fashioned Blistex (in the tube, not a lipstick applicator) put on and left to soak in for a few minutes...then covered with any form of petroleum jelly like Vaseline. The Blistex seems to heal the chapped/cracked nonsense, while the Vaseline keeps it from wearing ...

Flossing: a reverse approach
Day 12 in braces: I got the Glide Threaders floss and have been getting used to having my hands in my mouth, working the threader between the archwire and teeth...etc. I'm sure most of you have experienced that part of it. However, I found a few teeth impossible to get the floss between, even with q...

8 days in braces...
both bottom and top <all metal, said with a glinty smile> and I haven't experienced much *pain* at all. Some rubbed spots on the inner lips/cheek that passed and definitely some strange sensations as things begin to shift, but no real 'need for medication' pain. Everyone is different in how they rea...

Day 4 in braces This site has prepared me very VERY well for what to expect with all the new metal in my mouth. From getting the xrays, through the actual application of the brackets...I wasn't really surprised about any step along the way. I can't thank all the contributors enough, especially the w...
