I like Giovanni, but if you prefer Gio! :) I'm 40 with braces for the first time. So being 25 is no sweat. :) Hang in. I enjoyed reading your blog and sooooooooo related to the eatin habits. I laughed at the disappointment of not eating a spring roll because of not being able to chew into it. ...

Bethie, I have ceramic braces on my uppers. Unfortunately I don't have a picture for you as I'm on another computer that doesn't have my pics, but I can tell you that I find them more comfortable than the metal ones I have on my lowers. They don't stain and are self litigating, which means I don't n...

A popped off bracket needs to be looked after asap. Leaving it for an extended time can delay treatment time! So get it done!

PS: Sucks that it popped off while eating a french fry. I would have been po'd too!

ckrobyn: I enjoyed reading through your experience! On June 4th I got my braces (I turned 40 a few weeks before) and experienced everything you have been through. Like you, the random tooth soreness really freaked me out because I didnt' know that that meant. Every week is a new experience! I've got...

My face shape has changed slightly, but I'm attributing it to the braces and not my teeth, but who knows?

Re: Unexpected benefits from braces?

Hi everyone! Hope you all had a great 4th of July. I'm here in Northern Cali and it is HOT here! 106 degrees. Anyway, I was just thinking about one of the benefits that getting braces gave to me - I've got long fingernails now! Since I was a little girl I would bite my fingernails - but no more! Wh...

I was very sore for the first week and then it subsided...I've just completed a month and a half and my braces now feel like a part of me. That doesn't say that at odd times, they get uncomfortable, but it is because I'm dealing with loose teeth and movement. I know when my teeth have moved to a new...

I'm new to this but my dentist put some strange putty on my teeth so that I wouldn't bite down and pop off a bracket. Its really weird, but there are about two contact points, so I'm having fun finding new ways to eat (breaking off pieces of PB sandwiches) and new things to eat that don't require c...

Is it normal to feel that your is bite off?

Hi Bracefacegal! I, too, got braces for my 40th. Well, it was two months after my 40th, but who's counting? The second day, I was totally miserable, and wondering why I thought getting braces would be a good idea. Things got steadily better until I got my lowers on in May, then the whole adjustment...

5-6 times a day?? isn't that a bit excessive? you need to be very careful that you don't brush away at your gumline if you are going to brush that often. my dentist just told me to brush after meals, floss at least once a day (usually though I do it after brushing coz my mouth has loads of hidey ho...

I'm sorry this happened to you. I worry about that too, especially with having a crown and very small front teeth.
