Re: Howdy

How time flies...
Approaching the end of treatment after two+ years. Started with Hivizalign and, ultimately, made the change to traditional braces. Looks like they may come off in October. After that the dentist will address some minor issues. It's a nice feeling!

Re: Anxiety about food restrictions

I didn't ask about food restrictions and the ortho didn't say, so it has for the most part been the usual diet all along. Early in treatment and following a clinic visit, discomfort would tend to dictate the kinds of foods I could tolerate. I've had elastomer chains for months and had opted for silv...

Indeed, the board isn't particularly active these days.

Anyway, welcome @zipperlips and wishing you a smooth treatment progression!

Re: Post Your COVID-19 Orthodontic Stories or Concerns

The timing of the shut-down (and extension thereto) relative to ortho appointments has resulted in a seven-week delay of treatment. Could be worse.

June is just 'round the corner...

Welcome to the world of Highvisalign!

Yep, my experience exactly.

Best wishes for desired outcome! :)

Re: First powerchain and rectangular wire

Fifteen months into it with traditional braces and had (top and bottom) heavier rectangular wires and new power-chains on two days ago; tightness and tender teeth. I hadn't given thought to the idea that braces could become more conspicuous over time, but they have done so; thicker, rectangular wire...

As with all things: Moderation.

I doubt the two or three smokes you had will interfere with the healing process one iota.

Howdy. Might it be a good idea to check the medical malpractice statute of limitations that applies to the state in which you live?

Re: Will it ever feel comfortable again?

Hi, Gia, it's good to hear that the anxious, panicky stuff is over! I can relate to the constant sense of discomfort. Following the last ortho visit for me (seven days ago) my whole head hurt for the first 48 hours and teeth were unusually tender for around six days. Now it's just random pain and wo...

Re: Molar and pre-molar banding

One would assume that bands are absolutely reliable, right? So far I've had one come loose and another break. Oddly enough, none of the glued-on brackets have failed. YMMV.

Wishing you a smooth orthodontic treatment!
