Re: Crunching and cracking sensation?

Yep. Hear it all the time. It used to freak me out because I thought my teeth were breaking apart.

Re: Premolar extractions (how did your face change)

First pre-molars removed, on top and bottom. I've only had the braces for 3 months but there is a noticeable gaunt look in my cheeks now, which is fine by me. I've never been a fan of my super round face anyway. Unfortunately, it had to be done in my case. Every dentist I've ever been to has told me...

I've had a couple of dreams where certain teeth have fallen out.

Re: aching teeth

That happened to me a week before my first tightening. Even now, my teeth will feel fine for a couple days, then I have pain for a week. :(

Re: Teeth looking yellow now that I have braces

Mine look yellow with the metal braces. I've noticed they're turning and moving the teeth so that stains that were hidden before are more visible now.

Tingling?

I've experienced some tingling in my teeth today as well as hearing curious crunching sounds in my lower jaw. Anyone else experience that?

Re: First tightening after initial visit

That's exactly what happened to me, EWUgal15. The tech messed up putting the bands on the first two times so the orthodontist had to redo everything ... long story short, they pulled and pushed on my teeth so much I thought they were going to break. A couple days later, it's doesn't hurt so bad now,...

Re: Confess your orthodontic sins.

I can never say no to tortilla chips. I just crush them up into smaller pieces and eat them in a taco salad. I drink wine all the time.

Re: mouthwash reacting with braces - green stuff

Yes, it happens every time for me. Sometimes it's a little, sometimes it's a lot. I always thought with the fluoride it was brightening the plaque still left behind. I use a proxa brush to further clean them.

Re: First tightening after initial visit

I had four extractions a week before the tightening so I became really sore again a couple days before my follow up. I have the chains on top and bottom. Even chewing scrambled eggs this morning was REALLY painful. Maybe I'll feel different after I'm finished but if I knew it was going to hurt this ...

First tightening after initial visit

I am miserable. The doctor pushed and pulled on my already loosened teeth and the pain was almost excrutiating at times. She did mention my teeth were being 'turned' and that would probably make them more sensitive. Did anyone else experience this? And does anyone ever get used to the disconcerting ...

Re: Extraction of 4 bicuspids while awake

The teeth you're having removed only have two roots so it shouldn't be as involved as, say, getting your wisdom teeth out. I had a very back molar removed with just local before and it wasn't that bad. It should be pretty quick and you're not in a lot of pain afterwards.

Re: Poll: At What Age Did You Get Your Braces?

I'm 34 years old with major crowding that began causing periodontal issues. While a nice(r) smile will be a plus, I mainly got them so I could keep all my own teeth down the line.
