Re: Early August Embracers!!

P.P.S. I know her posts are from 2006 so she may not ever see this, so if anyone else knows where she got her treatment, or knows of a London UK practice who would provide it, please do reply here to let me know! Two suggestions: First, I'd recommend you start a new thread. The board has not been t...

Re: Molar bands

I'm not a dentist, but I don't think that sounds normal -- best to call your orthodontist and get his/her opinion. Hopefully just a temporary thing, but if not getting it adjusted sooner rather than later is probably best. Best of luck to you!

Re: Chain troubles (they suck)

Good luck with it in any event. If she's that busy, you'd think she'd want to avoid unplanned visits to reposition the chain. I would be interested in her explanation.

Re: Chain troubles (they suck)

Is it the techs who are telling you "That's just the way it is, etc."? Because that sounds crazy to me. And while the ortho may not think it's a big deal, you are spending a lot of time going to and from unnecessary appointments. The techs may be cutting corners because for them it may be ...

Re: Your jail sentence

Hi! This being my second time in braces, (all metal!), my orthodontist estimated my treatment time at 30 months. My guess is a bit longer, I’m thinking possibly 36 months, as I’m not a teenager anymore. I’ll have to wait and see, it’s now one month since I became a metal mouth! Cheers you lot! I ba...

Re: Teeth grinding

There is a dentist who posts here, and who might be able to answer your question; I am certainly not qualified to venture a guess. Have you consulted with an orthodontist? Best of luck to you.

Re: Diastema and frenectomy

Greetings and welcome to the board! I am not a dentist, but from what I have learned here you can expect no more than a 1 mm per month movement toward closure. The search function on this board works very well, and you may want to plug in "diastema" and see some results -- see https://www....

That's great! Hopefully the end is in sight and I am certain that you will be glad you stayed the course! I wonder what the record is for the longest sentence with braces? You've got to be in the running!
Best of luck to you!

Welcome to the boards! Things are a little quiet around here, but post up any questions or concerns. The search function works well for older posts. Best of luck to you.

Re: Anything stronger than powerchains for gaps?

My ortho tried coil springs briefly, as I recall, to close a stubborn space. He ended up giving me a couple of Propel treatments in an attempt to stimulate remodelling and tooth movement. Here is an interesting overview of coil springs: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oMjQFsAYKtw Best of luck to you!

Re: New member post

Greetings, You've come to the right place! The board is a bit quiet these days, but I'd also recommend the search function that is the small data box on the left hand side of the board. The admin has posted lots of pinned posts with introductory information about braces as well. If you live anywhere...

Re: Wax and hot beverages?

Ohh thank you so much for your kind reply! "and I second-guessed my decision to get braces endlessly" this! So much! I don't really have a choice as I apparently need jaw surgery to avoid my teeth to wear down, but still I have fantasied about just asking them to remove the braces. I am a...

Re: Essix vs Hawley

Not quite relevant to the topic (and I note that this thread started a long time ago), but I'd recommend the Vivera clear retainers. There often is an up-charge, but for me they were aesthetically more acceptable than either Essix or Hawley. I got 4 sets, and I am still on the original two (one at a...

Re: Braces on wisdom teeth

Halfway through my treatment I had brackets added to my third molars to fix an open bite caused by the initial treatment. She also used a "Propel" treatment and placed a blob of blue stuff on the lower 3rd molars. After 3 months the open bite went away. It was no big deal, but I did not l...
