I'm not a dentist, but I don't think that sounds normal -- best to call your orthodontist and get his/her opinion. Hopefully just a temporary thing, but if not getting it adjusted sooner rather than later is probably best. Best of luck to you!

My ortho tried coil springs briefly, as I recall, to close a stubborn space. He ended up giving me a couple of Propel treatments in an attempt to stimulate remodelling and tooth movement.
