Dental questions

Along with braces come other types of tooth repairs...Does anyone know of a dental website similar to this? I don't want to take away from the braces-related topics with my random questions...

A big sandwich!!! It will also be nice to be able to bite into a slice of pizza rather than using a knife and fork.

Coincidentally, I was at my dentist today for a crown removal/replacement. She asked if my dead tooth was hit 20 years ago. When I said no, it was just small, she asked if the original root canal/crown was done after orthodontics. I said yes. She said sometimes ortho work can kill off an already wea...

Good question ChicagoJohn! I have ceramic braces but asked a similar question on another forum and no one seemed to feel my worry. My ortho has used both, a file and a drill to IPR. I HATE the gaps and can only assume he knows what he's doing. I do see where two teeth are slightly overlapped and I a...

I don't know if there is a weird or normal. I've had two adjustments and my wire was changed (bigger) both times. I am now in a 0.18--which I gather is big from some other posts, but I didn't bother to ask my ortho anything about it. It is nice to see how much progress has been made. I think I've be...

Just excited

I just needed an outlet to share my excitement!! So, I have lower braces on to fix some crowding. My only other teeth issues (that I'm willing to fix) are to update a crown on a peg lateral and bond the opposite tooth. The current crown is old, ugly, and has black showing at the gumline--futher acce...

I have two brackets on two molars with crowns and they have never popped off. I know everyone is different and so are their teeth, but perhaps your ortho can cure it longer under the light or something. I'd hate to have spacers then brackets on crowns.

Depends on the length and nature of your vacation. If you are going on a cruise for three days then yes, probably. I say that because you'll be sore for about that length and wouldn't get to enjoy the fun of a cruise--all the food!! Overall, you'll be sore for a couple of days at least and have trou...

Oh yes! I do remember that about Inspire ICE. That's what I have and I remember my ortho saying that the company designed a special removal tool.

I ate soft stuff for awhile after getting my braces. I can eat anything now, but generally avoid biting into stuff (I use a fork for pizza, etc.). I lost 13 lbs in 7 weeks and am thrilled. No, it wasn't all due to braces, but losing a couple in the first week gave me the incentive to curb my eating ...

I have ceramic and though the brackets are bigger, I am happy with my decision. No one even notices them. (Only have on lower and teeth don't show much.)

I'm curious too!! I'd like to hear from someone who had both metal and ceramic removed. My ortho said metal "gives" and pops off relatively easy where ceramic doesn't bend so it is more of a challenge.

Are you on a pay as you go plan where your fee keeps getting higher? I am just confused by your concern that she is trying to make more money. I know for me, the cost was given up front. I'm paid in full and regardless of what comes up (unless I am habitually breaking things), I don't owe them anoth...

I don't! I brush in the morning, when I get to work after my morning cup of coffee, and at night after dinner. During the day, I swish with water always and will pick out any unsightly things with my trusty dental pick. I keep a kit in my purse in case I need to brush, but I haven't found it to be t...
