Sounds like you should look up the name of a different oral and maxillofacial surgeon and see him. If it is making you cry six weeks post-op thats crazy.... see someone else.

I really think you should consult a Maxillofacial surgeon first if there are functional issues, then consult the plastic surgeon afterward upon determination that there are no functional issues. I'm going to have to agree with a lot of these points made by HokieTay. An Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon knows plenty about cosmetic issues. In fact, they should generally know MORE about cosmetic issues in their area of expertise then a general cosmetic surgeon, to suggest they don't is completely...

It's probably fine. When they take molds they want them to be as close to what the teeth will look like when they do the surgery as possible.
