I was knocked out a little after 8:30AM and woke up in recovery at 11:25AM. I remember looking at the clock. My mom talked to the surgeon a little after 11:15 AM, telling her there were no complications. This was bsso only. My surgeon says it takes 5 hours to do BSSO + Lefort I. Thank god I didn't h...

Sounds like you should look up the name of a different oral and maxillofacial surgeon and see him. If it is making you cry six weeks post-op thats crazy.... see someone else.

I've been told that neither is necessarily "better" but I don't know why anyone would choose wires over rigid fixation. I'm not qualified to say, but I do not believe that the surgeon that worked on me would wire you shut Also Distraction Osteogenesis might be an interest to you since it l...

I really think you should consult a Maxillofacial surgeon first if there are functional issues, then consult the plastic surgeon afterward upon determination that there are no functional issues. I suppose it doesn't really matter if the surgeons experience and skill level is really high. Also, I wou...

Yeah, and thats why Ben Roethlisberger's surgery was led by DMDs and not plastic surgeons, because eventhough he's on tv all the time, his appearance doesn't matter.

The program is a DMD with a focus on oral and maxillofacial surgery, they're dentists.

Do I have to go down the street and take a picture of the residents that have the title stitched into their lab coats?

Horse sesame. They're different fields that overlap. There is even a board certification for it.

I'm going to have to agree with a lot of these points made by HokieTay. An Oral and Maxillofacial surgeon knows plenty about cosmetic issues. In fact, they should generally know MORE about cosmetic issues in their area of expertise then a general cosmetic surgeon, to suggest they don't is completely...

This is true, you MAY defiantely have functional issues you are not aware of quite simply because you have never experience a correct bite. But if you are presented a situation like I was where i would get like .5 mm more projection in the midface in exchange for a sesame of pain and nerve damage th...

It's probably fine. When they take molds they want them to be as close to what the teeth will look like when they do the surgery as possible. The closer they do everything to the actual surgical date the better. Just getting hooks put on the day of probably doesnt matter. my hooks have been moving s...
