Re: Six month braces

Hi moonbeam, - like your name. Are you having fixed appliances? If so try to keep up a really good oral hygiene routine, I love my electric toothbrush, I use a small brush to clean the brackets, interspace brushes (size 0.7 and 0.6) and of course my trusty waterpik. My new ortho was well impressed w...

Re: I'm 54 what was I thinking???

Hi Peggy, Hope things are settling now. Me and my daughter are both in fixed braces (hers are coming off soon though) after adjustments our home is not a talkative place. We never get adjusted at the same time though. Think I live at orthodontic practices. Keep us up to date on your progress. :rose:

Re: lefort and gummy smile

sorry, just read your post underneath - you have had your surgery already.
It sounds like you were given some good information before your surgery which is helpful.
My best wishes to you in the recovery process. :rose:

Re: lefort and gummy smile

My LFO's were all based on opal predictive software (ops) planning. Presumably my old ortho used dentofacial planner too. The ops software is based on generalisations which I only discovered after the third go. There is some fascinating research online on the computerised planning of orthognathic su...

Re: mistake

My mind is pretty much made up, and I'll state it clearly so that emotion doesn't come into it. When you are a professional like a Doctor or an assistant in the employ of a doctor, you should hold yourself to a standard of professional conduct, even on bad days. Its not a nicety, its a job requirem...

Re: mistake

Zander, I definitely agree that you should never have been left alone in the room - that is just not professional and as for the protective eye gear that should be a must in all orthodontic treatment. She really should have been observed by a qualified specialist so that part is out of order too. Re...

Re: mistake

Did they not ask you to put sunglasses on? Not sure about who you saw when she put your braces on but if she was a tech she should have had someone in the room observing her practise and definitely should have informed you as to what her postion was. I would advise you to get a second opinion but do...

Re: Just a quick thank you..

I love my waterpik. I use the newest model and have used the older one in the past.
Best purchase I have made since my treatment began. Don't use it after surgery though as it is too powerful. :rose:

Re: Teeth Retraction / Profile Protrusion Question

Hi Rajkal, Welcome. Good luck with the TAD's. I have done so much research into the use of these in orthodontic/orthognathic treatment and there is not much evidence in england to suggest that they actually work any better than conventional orthodontics. It seems like your ortho is keeping you well ...

Re: Cancelled operations..... for NHS patients

I agree, It is unusual that you would be asked to wait for two years while you are receiving orthodontic treatment. The NHS currently has an eighteen week referral period for all consultations and should be abiding by this until it is changed in the near distant future. The South East have some very...

Re: Does my ortho know what hes doing?

My new ortho is great and explained everything that he is going to be doing and what I should expect from the treatment. He put a lighter arch wire on my upper teeth and explained the method behind the madness. Ask your ortho what his plans are - i'm sure you will get the answers that you need. Best...

Hi Pacman,
You could always have a chat with your orthodontist to see what he/she advises.

Best Wishes
