Re: INVISALIGN RESPONDS TO CONTROVERSIAL GUN PROMOTION
He may just have an excellent understanding of his market, no offense to any Tar Heels out there. Let's see how it plays out. Despite my best efforts not to, I had to laugh at the name of the promotion, "Grins and Glocks." We'll have to see how Invisalign responds if this thing takes off. ...

Re: PDF and Dental Appliances: Two Converging Worlds
Welcome to the forum! I'm just a bit unclear what audience you are seeking. From your interest in pdfsmart, it would seem you are targeting administrative personnel within dental practices; likewise I am uncertain if you are seeking information about "dental devices" from the professional ...

Re: Made it to steel archwire. Curious about steps after (closing gaps)
Glad to hear that you are making progress and have achieved this important milestone. I am not an orthodontist, but as a former patient I can confidently say that I detested the rubber bands. It seemed like a step backwards in terms of enunciation and comfort, but you'll get used to them soon enough...

Re: Usually not overwhelmingly sweet things are now unbearably sweet?
It might be coincidental with the braces, but there are other medical issues that might contribute to this...so you might want to check with your physician if it persists. Best of luck to you!

Re: First Time in Braces - Getting Extractions Soon!
Yes, welcome to the forum and your orthodontic adventure. Like you, I also had a load of early treatments including a bone graft, and it's a lot to process. It's been over 10 years since I started my treatment (which lasted 3 years) but the initial phase was the most difficult in terms of stuff goin...

Re: Bluegrass Appliance
I have no experience with it and so I am of no help, but here is a search I did on this forum which may give you a few leads: https://www.archwired.com/phpbb2/search.php?keywords=bluegrass+&fid%5B0%5D=13 . You'll need to post about 7 times (see FAQs) before you can reach out and IM people on the...

Re: Podcast Intervidw about Smile Direct Club Bankruptcy
Fascinating. Having successfully completed my orthodontic adventure years ago, I can relate to many of his points. I became a candidate for braces following a complication with a poorly installed crown on a premolar which allowed the tooth to rot from within (by a previous general dentist who I aban...

Re: Removing braces before all adjustments done
Wow, sorry to hear this. My only suggestion, which I am sure you have considered, is a second opinion. I have read here from time to time about patients who were not satisfied with the final results, and in some cases it seemed that their expectation may have been perfection, which is difficult to a...

Re: New here
Welcome to the board! Things are quiet around here lately, and I can't directly provide any words of wisdom, but I did do a search on "TPA + lisp" and came up with these results https://www.archwired.com/phpbb2/search.php?keywords=TPA+%2B+lisp&fid%5B0%5D=13 . The search function works ...

Re: Mandible Plate irritation
Welcome to the board! Things have been a bit quiet around here lately, but you may want to check out the board here "Oral (orthogenic) Surgery," which is another subforum under "Braces Treatment Discussion." There, I did a cursory search on "metal + plate" and found the...

Re: Do bottom teeth take longer to shift?
I am not really sure why (not a dentist) but I suspect it depends on the forces/devices that the ortho deploys and your underlying condition. In my case, it seemed as though the teeth on the lower jaw moved more slowly, but in reality I had a large gap to fill for a missing premolar. There is a gene...

Re: Smile Direct Club Has Filed for Bankruptcy
That's very interesting, especially that the founders will dump in another $20M to save that sinking ship. I don't quite understand why the pandemic hurt them, as I would imagine it would flourish in a world under lock-down. Thanks for sharing.

Doesn't sound like much fun. I never had to endure one, so can't be of much direct help but I did use the search function of the board, and came up with these results: https://www.archwired.com/phpbb2/search.php?keywords=nance&fid%5B0%5D=13 . Hopefully you can find some tips on how to deal with ...

Re: New Member Post
You probably saw my response to your post on another thread. In a nutshell, I have not heard of nor seen any evidence of tooth-colored arch wires, but that doesn't mean they don't exist. I am guessing that the coating might interfere with movement or change the effective diameter of the wire which m...

Re: New member post
I am a new member (*just joined today 9-14-23) and do not have braces yet. I wore traditional metal braces in my younger years but was not faithful with my retainer. Fast forward to now (*I’m in my 50s) and I have decided to get braces again. Don’t want Invisalign and am researching the Damon Clear...
