Hi EbonyQ, I've not written much on your thread but I am another who wishes you well. I'm the other way round to you - had lowers fitted first and just had uppers done.
Good to see your bottom set wired up - they will look beautiful when you're through!

Re: Bite plate misery!!!
Hi, Watson. I have just finished 6 months with a bite plate. There don't seem to be a huge number of people on here who have them. The advantage I had was mine was removable, but I could only take it out for cleaning so it was there all the time. The lisp at first is horrendous, isn't it? Your tongu...

Re: Smilehope's story
Ha ha ha Yippeeeee!!!! Bite plate gone gone gone. 6 months of yuk all behind me and now my uppers can get moving. I'm so happy after my appointment today. Ceramic uppers fitting a doddle when you know what to expect from lowers. My husband met me outside the office, we walked into town for a coffee,...

Re: Smilehope's story
Hi all, not been here a while. I can't believe I've been braced nearly 6 months. 12-18 months to go doesn't sound nearly as bad as the 18-24 estimate I started with!! Only 5 days to go until I should lose the horrid plate but also get my upper fixed brace. Starting to get nervous - I'm so used to ea...

Re: Smilehope's story
Thanks, Jem. Without my plate I'm biting on braces so it's a bit hard to tell how it's doing at present. I can tell the molars are closer, but you wouldn't see that in a pic. I asked my ortho if the teeth would start to move quicker because of the pressure they have had from the plate and he said no...

Re: Smilehope's story
Ok, so went for my 3rd adjustment today, at 4.5 months. Ortho seems very pleased. When he looks at my teeth he's muttering "mm that's very good, excellent" and that sort of thing. When he changed the ligs he offered me coloured ones this time, "for summer". I chickened out and ke...

Looking good, Betsybug. I wonder why your lowers are slower? Your uppers are looking lovely!

Re: Car Accident
Ouch, poor you. I cut my lower lip on my braces last week - at 1cm sounds so much less worse than yours, but still my whole lip blew up instantly. I was dancing with my daughter in a ceilidh and she jumped up when I didn't. The worst bit was that I have an upper plate which needs removing to clean e...

Re: Smilehope's story
OK guys, here's a tip for you. Don't dance with 8 year old girls. I was at a ceilidh with my daughter last night. She jumped up when I didn't. Cue a cut lip from braces which is ever so swollen ! Ooowwwwwww

Re: Smilehope's story
This process really is roller-coaster, isn't it? Whereas a week ago, when without my plate in my molars were starting to touch, now they don't and I'm biting on braces again. My teeth don't look like they've moved in the last week but they clearly have! As long as it is a means to an end and my uppe...
