I think you may want to try a Hawley. An Essex does not let you bite down fully, where a Hawley will, thus you may be able to close your mouth more naturally and it may be more comfortable for you. I don't understand...I have upper and lower Hawley, but I cannot bite down fully, actually none of my...

Thank you.

Your situation is kind of unusual. Little to no improvement in one year...and now he tells you that your teeth might never be straight??? You should tell him that you are not satisfied with the results, and these results are not what you paid so much money for.
Can you post some picture?

Braces should not taste like metal.
Food seems tasteless because you are not in the mood of eating, you are in pain and you are also dealing with a lot of stuff that appeared in your mouth overnight.

Will spaces left from molar bands ever close?

I got debraced 3 weeks ago. Lots of food gets stuck where the molar bands used to be. Will those spaces ever close?

I was crabby when I got my braces on...I did not want to eat and I definitely did not want to brush my teeth because it was very very very painful...so I'd rather not eat.

Before braces I could not stand lipbalm...during braces I became addicted to it.
I think you will have to try a few different kinds, that's the only way to find what works for you.
For me Nivea is a blessing. (the blue one)

The sores will go away in a couple of weeks. I experienced the headaches too, but it got better in time. I admit that a few times during elastics I took a few nights off from elastics...because of some strong headaches, they were not elastics related headaches, but the elastics just made them worse....

Can a tooth be pulled down after debanding?

I had a tooth that was pulled down during braces.
Now, after debracing is moving back up.
Can it be pulled down without braces?
Does anybody have an answer for me? I did some internet search but I could not find an answer.
Drrick?

I don't know about pulling a tooth down...I had that done on my upper front incisor, and now after being debraced, it goes up again, and I am freaking out, because I can't imagine how will my ortho pull it down.

Veneers are more expensive than braces.
