Re: No pain since braces

This thread is encouraging. I will get braces in the near future and keep reading about how painful the first month can be. Good to know that some people sail through the early days with minimal discomfort. Good luck! I hope your journey in brackets, wires and chains is as painless as mine!! Good l...

I am worried as well because I notice some uneven changes since having elastic for two weeks. Please share with me what your ortho says?

Re: Should I keep elastic on while eatting??

I have been eating with it on.. lost one this after noon during lunch.. didn't realized it until lunch was almost over... it's gross to know that you swallowed an elastic that has been in your mouth all morning...

Re: Just Swallowed an elastic..

I've swallowed 2 now, perhaps it's extra B vitamin. I would think that keeping them on would speed things up. One, because having them on for the duration of each meal means more time for the elastics to work. Two, I think the distance an open mouth creates puts more pull on the elastics and teeth....

I read somewhere that keeping the elastic on while you eat speeds up the teeth shifting... That's why I've been keeping them on.. Should I not? Maybe I should start a new post!!! :D

Re: When did you start wearing elasticits?

I started elastics last week and had an adjustment as well. The only "pain" was like any other adjustments, just some pressure for the first two days and it's back to normal.

Re: How long before needing to change elastics?

The ortho assistant told me to change them once a day, but I think it is much better to change them more often, so I asked for a few extra bags of elastics which was no problem. I change them about 4 times a day. Awesome! I got myself another bag today. Had some poky wires. Also got a hook and fork...

Re: Tools to put on your elastics

My Oral Surgeon gave me a thing with a hook on one end and a "fork" on the other; the "fork" end came in really handy for finishing my "box" configuration. When my ortho switched me to Class II triangles, I didn't need a tool at all. I went in today to have a wire cut ...
