Re: June/July 2015 Surgery Buddies

Hello, I'm new here. Getting double jaw surgery in a few weeks! I know this thread seems like a convenient place to post as it’s one of the longer and more active threads, but it’s best to create a new thread for posts like this that aren’t related to the topic of this thread. Good luck with your s...

Re: Questions about Insurance and getting approval for this surgery.

I’m not familiar with any of those insurance plans. If you search this forum, however, you’ll see that many folks have been approved for treatment with the big national plans, if you have access to them, such as Blue Cross Blue Shield. Good luck!!

Re: June/July 2015 Surgery Buddies

Hi everyone I am a new user and I write from Italy. I'm also a candidate for surgery. I am a third skeletal class head to head with posterior bilateral crossbite. I'm 43 years old. Do you think age will affect the final result? Thanks a lot and congratulations to everyone. You should create a separ...

Re: June/July 2015 Surgery Buddies

Yeah, they put spreaders in my nostrils to help last winter. I’m not sure it has tho. I think the dryness at night might be what’s causing my congestion. It can’t be allergies since I’m on allergy shots now. Hopefully your procedure in November helps!

This^. My surgeon’s charges were only a couple grand. The anesthesia and hospital OR charges were like $70k if it hadn’t been covered by insurance.

Re: Doctor selection process & cost

Has the community resolved a good way to find the best surgeon and facility... and what a cash procedure might cost? I am willing to travel to see a doctor that I feel confident in. I was hoping to find someone that has done hundreds of these surgeries and uses the latest technology... but I can fi...

Thought I'd stop in today after my ortho appt... Getting my deviated septum fixed (again) and some bone spurs removed from my nasal passages in November. Hoping he will remove the front plates while he's in there; to remove a potential source of infection... What are your continuing issues related ...

Re: June/July 2015 Surgery Buddies

It looks like I’ll be going under the knife yet again in February. I’m getting the neck and cheek lipo that I probably should have had done in conjunction with my bimax, but lipo wasn’t my surgeon’s forte so that’s ok. I’ve wanted it ever since I got back up to my normal weight post-surgery (I lost ...

Re: Should I do surgery if I have no problems with my bite?

Unfortunately I’m not one of those who LiveJournaled my whole experience. Regarding how they do a LeFort I without braces: archbars. they put them on during the surgery and they come off some 2-3 months afterwards. You should be able to Google what they look like. They have hooks for strong elastics...

Re: Should I do surgery if I have no problems with my bite?

There aren’t many people on this forum who decided not to go forward with the surgery. For the most part they just drop off the forum quietly or they make 1 final post saying they decided not to do it. They don’t stick around to discuss it afterwards. Regarding your choice, only you can decide it. I...

Re: Getting a sleep study done

I had a sleep study done. They found mild/medium sleep apnea but it was enough that my $95k surgery was 100% covered by insurance (less maybe $1,500 out of pocket for various appointments, consults with other surgeons, etc.). It’s definitely worth it if your insurance will cover the surgery for slee...

Re: June/July 2015 Surgery Buddies

Well, optimism is good! Hopefully some of that rubs off on you  What does the splint therapy do? Is it supposed to get the disc back in place? I know slipped discs in the spine can be tricky to treat. I think they do a disc replacement surgery, don’t they? I’ve never heard of such a thing as di...
