Re: Getting approval for IPR
@Speck - Yes and no, but I would take on board any recommendations against it if my dentist, for instance, thought it was poor judgement. I’ll ask my orthodontist what his thoughts are anyway. He’s never mentioned it in the past, and it’s only from reading this forum that I know it’s an option. Thanks

Getting approval for IPR
Hi all, At my next appointment with my orthodontist I’m going to ask about IPR. Currently I’ve got my overjet down from 9mm to 5mm, but my extraction gaps are nearly closed and it looks like I’ll only get another 1mm (max) before no more movement can be made. So far I’m really happy with my results,...

Re: Did your Orthodox show a 3D simulation of your teeth
@wendydong - yes, the simulation was given with my choice of lingual braces. As Assertives mentions, I was also give a digital scan instead of a regular impression. I think that’s the only way they can model the outcome into a simulation.

Re: Did your Orthodox show a 3D simulation of your teeth
Yes, I was shown a simulation. The orthodontist I go to seems to have all the gadgets and is very high tech and modern. I’ve got to admit, seeing the 3D simulation was a bit of an emotional experience. I’m not sure they are entirely accurate, but it helped sign me up for treatment. A note to the abo...

Re: 2.5 weeks and my teeth still don't hurt
Same here for me, no pain whatsoever after any appointment over the last year (and I am a similar age). I guess we are lucky! It doesn’t mean your teeth are not shifting.

Your teeth are looking good. They look finished to me. My lower teeth were similar to yours and are now straightened up as well. I only wish I had got it sorted sooner.

They look good! It’s always nice to see an end result photo, and it gives the rest of us some hope that there’s light at the end of the tunnel. Enjoy your freedom to eat whatever you like!

Re: Worried I’ve ruined my orthodontic treatment
Teeth don’t move that fast so I would say there is no harm done. Had you worn them incorrectly for a whole month or so then I’m guessing you could have caused some temporary issues for your Orthodontist to correct.

Re: Can wisdom teeth removal wait?
I suppose it depends on the specifics of your treatment. In my case, I have an impacted wisdom tooth that cannot have a bracket attached, so both lower wisdom teeth are not attached to the brace. It seemed to be of little consequence to my orthodontist. He did say that if the tooth needs to be extra...

Re: Question on elastics location
I too have recently begun wearing elastics. The tension on mine is very light. I am guessing, as assertives says, it is a way of getting acclimatized to them. I can only feel the tension when initially being attached after which I can't feel anything much. No pain for me either. At present, it is ha...

Re: Newbie
The wax I was given was no good to me either, and I also tried a few different vaieties from Amazon. None of them stayed on. However my ortho gave me some unbranded putty which did the trick, and can stay on for days at a time if necessary. This came in two small containers, one putty white and the ...

@EmilyTravels
From what I gather from my ortho a sizeable part a patient’s time in braces is the finishing stage to align everything as perfectly as possible. Apparently the ‘heavy lifting’ work is the straight foreword part. Hang in there, you are nearly done!

Re: Over 50, Impacted Wisdom Teeth
Hi - a bit late in responding I know, but I just stumbled across your post. I too have an impacted wisdom tooth and it has not affected the braces at all. It just meant that it's the only tooth without a bracket glued on. My ortho did consider whether he could raise it out of the gum, but decided ag...

Re: How many consultations?
Hi. There is no harm in getting another opinion. My first choice of orthodontist ticked all the boxes and said all the right things to me, but he later dithered with protracted discussions with my dentist over a period of about 9 months - lost time where I could have been in a brace. I was then forc...
