Re: Is there anyway to lower the bottom arch without intrust
Grind the teeth down with a drill. Nothing else that I know of. I also need to lower several teeth in the lower arch and my orthodontist is intruding them. It seems to work pretty well. Any particular reason you don't want to intrude?

Re: Does camouflaging an overbite through braces change the
I used to have overbite that was of a dental origin, i.e. my bones are the right size but teeth were positgioned wrongfully. I also had a crossbite on the molars (also dental). Now as those issues are corrected, I see that my lower jaw is slightly more forward (the chin looks a bit more prominent) a...

How long to close a premolar gap?
I am missing one 2nd upper premolar. It is currently held open by a spring, but I am wondering - how long will it take to close it, given all the aggressive measures are taken? The gap is probably about 6mm wide. Thanks!

Re: Closing gaps genetically caused by absent teeth?
nikkibabie19 this is only my assumption, but maybe out teeth move fast because there's still space in the bone, between the roots? I've heard that moving crowns is easy, moving roots is not. I think many people especially those who had extractions experience fast movement at first but unfortunately,...

Re: Wire broke
The actual archwire. I don't have any ligatures because my braces are self-ligating. I wasen't eating anything forbidden as well. I also think it is very unlikely and that's why I posted, but it did happen to me. Assistant who changed the wire said that my wire is very stiff and can break, but some ...

Re: Told I was free to go but now asking for payment (consul
When I started my ortho treatment, I was informed that if I pay in full (Care Credit also qualifies), I would get a 5% discount. However, when I came to pay, they told me that only cash or debit card quality for a discount and what was told to me was a mistake. I was upset because I was already ment...

Re: Overjet, overbite, spacing and the options!
Skibunny I think they turn you down because they don't believe bracing only the top teeth will do much. If I was a honest orthodontist, I'd hate to put braces on the person and take their money knowing that the benefit will be minimal (and may even do harm). With that, if you are still determined to...

Re: Overjet, overbite, spacing and the options!
Skibunny I think I can visualize what you are saying. I am not sure though, if bracing only the upper teeth is really an option. Maybe extracting and pushing everything back in which case you will have both arches banded. I am not sure where you are, but here in the US most orthodontists will treat ...

Re: Closing gaps genetically caused by absent teeth?
But power chains do work..... Oh yes they do! I have developed a relatively large (about 3-4mm) gap between my lateral and a canine, and a powerchain has almost closed it in a matter of just 3 weeks! They have also closed smaller gaps in between my front teeth in just a few days. They also hurt tho...

Re: The time between consult and bonding. How did you pass i
I absolutely HATE waiting :( I only had to wait for 2 weeks total. I went for a consult on Monday, had my molds taken next Monday and next Monday already had braces on. I went for a consult when I felt I was 100% ready for braces emotionally, physically and financially. If I had to wait for a long t...

Re: Anybody ever had a certain teeth not tied?
It is very common to not tie the very back 2nd and 3rd molars (wisdom teeth). Orthos tie those teeth only in certain cases. My 2nd molars are tied because they are used to correct a crossbite; however, my wisdom teeth are not tied. Don't worry, it is totally normal.

Re: Will braces make gums move as well? (bimax protrusion)
pearlyteeth I can see your bimax protrusion, however it does not look too bad in my opinion. If it were my teeth, I'd probably have left it as is (if correction necessitated pulling 4 healthy teeth). However, I can see on the 1st pic, that you seem to have a weak chin? Have any ortho ever mentioned ...

Re: Closing gaps genetically caused by absent teeth?
vegathestar I am glad if I could help! However, I am not a dentist or ortho. Please check this with your ortho. It is OK to express concerns, esp yours is a very legitimate one, and seek clarifications. In my opinion, it's better to ask and be done with it rather than spend months worrying. Good luc...

Minimal vertical height for an implant crown???
I am now in braces and will have to have a tooth #4 (right upper 2nd premolar) replaced with an implant. However, I have short teeth and the height of the open implant space is only about 5mm (maybe even a tad less). I am concerned this won't be enough to fit an implant crown vertically. I'd appreci...

Re: Male Adult getting braces - impact on single life??
ams288 right (in my opinion). I am a married woman but when I see people (especially men) with a major malocclusion, I can't help but wonder why don't they do anything about it? Like Michael Phelps, he has a MAJOR malocclusion (I don't even know what it is, looks like an underbite and a crossbite to...
