Re: Time to blossom - lilyflower's story

Day 25 Update: I am BORED - not because of my invisalign but rather my sprained ankle (which is slowly healing) but as I'm pretty much housebound for a few more days here's some updates. My aligners are definitely looser which means that this set has pretty much accomplished what it was supposed to ...

Re: Got braces put on without fixing cavities (long post)

for me it is very weird that your ortho didn't say anything about cavities. at least in greece the ortho is a general dentist with extra studies in orthodontics and i believe that your teeth and gums must be in good shape before you have braces. when i was a kid my father got me in an ortho who tol...

Re: Time to blossom - lilyflower's story

My lisp is pretty much gone now and the whole process of eating has become second nature Thaths fantathtic! LOL! You should've heard me try to sing along to "Counting Stars" the first few days. It was pretty funny. I actually do a lot of public speaking so if I absolutely have to I can ta...

Re: Zizi's Braces & Double Jaw Surgery

Welcome and I love your sense of humor and writing style - please post more! Regarding the taste - I have invisalign attachments which apparently are put on the with same type of glue and I likened it to nail polish remover in terms of taste which my ortho found hilarious because she couldn't imagin...

Re: Consultations?

I suspect it wasn't volunteered because most patients frankly don't care and wouldn't understand. This. Coming on an internet message board to learn more about braces puts you into a tiny minority of patients. For offices that you've already visited, call back and ask the treatment coordinator for ...

Re: Got braces put on without fixing cavities (long post)

Oh boy... First off, yes, it would not be the ortho's responsibility to tell you to get cavities fixed first unless you had something so severe that you'd need a crown/root canal that could delay putting on a bracket OR you were doing Invisalign in which an exact mold is needed. That said, it's nice...

Re: I did it!

Thanks Everyone! I have a feeling I am going to like this board. Everyone seems so friendly! It's much nicer being an adult with braces than a kid/teenager with braces. Adults are far more supportive than kids ;-) Except that lilyflower person... watch out for her ;-) LOL, Nitro! To the OP: l...

Re: Should I get Invisalign if it is "Optional?"

Okay, I'm about your age (35 and I also have Invisalign). I know you're freaking out but honestly, I think you should go for it unless you already have very short roots where ANY orthodontic treatment would be a bad idea. Yes, Invisalign will help you not want to snack because it's a pain in the ass...

Re: Bracket broke with one week to go! Help.

Hey everyone! I have one week left to go with my braces. I've had them on for 2 years and I'm excited to get them off. However one of my brackets broke on the back molar today. Will this postpone my removal date ? :( Thanks! That's really only something that can be decided by your ortho. It might b...

Re: Bring it on!

12 months really isn't that long and you'll still be done before me Being the braces veteran that I am ;-), I can certainly say I've learned to not quite trust the initial estimate of treatment duration. I managed to break one of my spacers already and have to go back in on Thursday to have it repl...

Re: Time to blossom - lilyflower's story

Day 24: As I am currently stuck home (with really no way to get out with my sprained ankle) the daily updates will continue for a few more days. Today, I can definitely say that I'm aware of how loose my top aligner feels, which makes sense as I'm scheduled to change to the next set on Monday. I nev...

Re: Time to blossom - lilyflower's story

At some point I'm going to stop doing daily updates No way! I supposed with the sprained ankle we'll be in for the daily updates for the near future? I think it's certainly therapeutic and the whole process is still exciting. I don't think anyone on here will be upset with daily updates. Best of lu...

Re: The Professor's Story of Braces at 40 (with pics)

Great progress! For cleaning, try your best with a brush and then focus on a waterpik? I've been on a waterpik break since my wisdom teeth surgery, but I'm sure it will be helpful now. I'm so ready to be done with braces!!!! I imagine you're getting really close to the finish line. Just keep the wa...
