Thanks brika! Yes, that lateral incisor and the canine on the opposite side are the two teeth I can REALLY see moving around. Anytime I start to get discouraged and wonder what I was thinking when I got these silly things, I take a look at how far those two teeth have moved and think "well, may...

Yep, that seems normal to me. Spacers do move your teeth a bit. You'll notice that "loose" feeling quite a bit while you're in braces. It's not the same as when you're a kid and your teeth are loose and you can actually wiggle them back and forth noticeably... If you start to feel THAT way...

Well, even though I'm fairly certain by this point that no one is interested in my story, I'm going to put up some new pictures anyway! Here I am in my new thicker wires with loops on top and reverse wires on the bottom O_o http://i127.photobucket.com/albums/p132/SharMarali/Teefs/03-03-09.jpg http:/...

Hah, I catch myself looking at my teeth a lot too. Most of the changes are so gradual you barely notice them, but ever now and then something will shift overnight, especially right after an adjustment. I'm one who doesn't use a lot of wax too. I really only use it when an area starts to feel RAW and...

Had another adjustment yesterday. My wires were changed for the first time. I kept my teeny thin ones for 4 solid months! Now I have reverse wires on my lowers because my front teeth are over-erupted and on a completely different plane than my back teeth, and this is supposed to bring them down a li...

Ugh, I had a bad food experience that only you guys would understand! So my job has "Popcorn Thursday" every Thursday. The receptionist makes an announcement over the loudspeaker and anyone who wants free popcorn heads down to the first floor lunchroom and grabs some. I KNOW I'm not suppos...

What you're describing is actually pretty standard. My orthodontist looks at my teeth when I arrive to see what's shifted and what hasn't, decides on a course of action, tells his assistants exactly what he wants done, they take care of it, then he comes back when they're done and checks to make sur...

I'm so excited after my adjustment today (although I'm in pain too teehee)! That pesky rotated lower lateral incisor is now FULLY engaged on the archwire. It hurts like a MOTHERBEAR, but I figure that means it's on the move, so I don't really mind SO much. Also, I got a powerchain today joining all ...

Hooray, the metal mouth forum is back! Three cheers for our awesome admin! HIP HIP HOORAY! :-88 So with the $$ my folks gave me for the holidays, I got myself a halfway decent digital camera. It's a point-and-shoot budget model, but it's SO much nicer than my phone for taking pictures! It came in ha...

Man if he hates his job so much, why doesn't he do something different?! Seriously, I think if you have to switch dentists under your insurance that's a good thing. This guy sounds like a piece of work. It's important to feel as comfortable as possible during your appointments, and if you constantly...

I agree that everyone's journey is definitely different. However, what you're describing sounds really normal to me. Basically, when your braces are applied, your teeth, which are used to NOT having any pressure on them, suddenly have all this force pushing on them and it NEVER stops. After a couple...

That's fantastic that you were able to find an orthodontist who has done work with other hemophiliac patients. As careful as the rest of us have to be, you'll have to be even more cautious. It's not at all uncommon for me to accidentally give myself a small cut on the inside of my mouth with one of ...

WOW... I just read through this thread for the first time and the only word I have is "STUNNING!" I know you've got plenty of journey ahead of you still yet, but the progress you've made so far nearly brought tears to my eyes! Your new smile is... well... STUNNING!

Also, I have developed a taste for oatmeal. I could never STAND the stuff my whole life, and then during a particularly painful couple of days it was the only thing I could choke down for breakfast... Suddenly I can't get enough of the stuff! I guess it's a good thing, cause I'm sure I'll have MANY ...

Thanks everyone for the words of encouragement. =) Bracedagain, yeah, the rear-ender seems to be working out OK. The guy who caused the accident was driving a brand-new luxury car. He hit a soccer mom in an SUV and pushed her into me. Fortunately, nobody was hurt. His insurance company accepted 100%...
