Re: Over 50's club ?
Hi Jano Well I am 62 and got braces Jan 2011. It has been quite an experience but really not that unpleasant. For me it was correcting my bite and some overcrowding on top. It is about preserving your teeth. Have had mostly positive reactions from folks and I am still amazed at how many adults I see...

Re: Band or bracket on a crown?
I have had brackets on two porcelean crowns for 11 months and they have never come off. I do know they used a different adhesive. Last month I had brackets put on my 4 last molars, two of which were crowns. One crown was gold and had to have a molar band put on. Not too bad so far. Water pick really...

Re: Start of my braces journey at 66
Hi Marie45 Welcome to the over 60 group. Just turned 62 and have had my braces on since January 2011. Coming up on the one year mark and can't believe how fast it has gone. Just this past week had my 4 last molars engaged on top and bottom and having trouble chewing again but know this will pass. Go...

Re: Sensitivity on gumline around molar
Hi Pattikq
As my teeth have moved I have had sensitivity on various teeth. Most of the time it lasts for maybe 8-10 days and then goes away. I always use the sensitivity tooth paste which really does help. Hopefully the sensitivity you have will not last too long

Re: Waited to bracket last 4?
I am having my 4 back molars bracketed in a week which will be almost 10 months since I got braced. I have two wisdom teeth on the right side but not sure he is going to bracket them. Sounds like the time line is similar for us.

Hi Rahmama Well I just turned 62 and have had braces since Jan 2011. Welcome to the group. As others have said, it absolutely gets better. I hardly notice mine now. I have metal upper and lower and have a good time with different color ligs. In two weeks I a having my back molars braced so that will...

Re: Revised debrace day.
Hi Sea54change That 4 weeks will go so fast. I was told 18 months which will put me at July 2012. Sure hope it isn't much longer. In two weeks I am getting my back molars braced and not looking forward to it. Threading floss on the very back teeth can't be much fun. Plus I am sure the extra pressure...

Re: Does you Ortho office do cleaning on your teeth...
Interesting thread. The first two adjustments I did not brush and floss and was not asked if I wanted to. My coworker said she always brushes at an adjustment. So next time I went to the ortho I asked if I could and they said of course and they had a whole drawer full of special toothbrushes with so...

Re: Which electric toothbrush do you use/like?
I used an Oral B for a long time until it died. Now I am trying the Sonicare at recommedation of my hygienist. They are both very different but I am liking the Sonicare. Teeth feel really clean.

Re: Starting to notice everyone's teeth!
I too look at everyone's teeth now. When I see someone with crooked teeth, I have to refrain from telling them "Hey braces could make your teeth look a lot better". One thing I do notice is a majority of young people "(20's and younger) have beautiful straight teeth. When I was growin...

Re: Metal brackets
Sallee It is hard to say what different braces people will be satisfied with. But I have had metal braces upper and lower and don't mind them at all. They really have been relatively comfortable except the first couple days of course. Absolutely no problem with staining. And I have really gotten int...

Re: A few ?'s about elastics...help
I also wear elastics in the same configuration and only at night. My top canine on one side was crowded and I think the elastics help pull it down. Though it must have something to do with the bite also as I wear them on both sides. I know most folks wear elastics 24/7 but my ortho said only to wear...
