You're right that the manufacturers don't guarantee a specific reduction in treatment time...they really can't, because everyone's treatment is different. I think that in general it CAN red...

You can "flatten" them so that they reach between some of the teeth. But I suppose if you really want the whitening to get between the teeth, a gel would work better.

A Few Words About At-Home Whitening Kits

Note: You should NOT whiten your teeth when you are wearing braces! Either whiten them before the braces are put on, or after they are removed! Now that my braces are off, I've had a chance to try a few different at-home whitening kits. The good news is: you don't have to spend hundreds of dollars ...

Well, my 8-year-old daughter has had her spring expander in for four days. She doesn't like it very much, but she's getting used to it. She still finds it difficult to chew certain foods. She was never in a lot of pain (refused when I offered her some Advil). She has some discomfort from the bracket...

Great advice, Lil One! If your child is old enough to understand technical matters, you might also want to explain the mechanics of what's going to happen in his/her mouth. Some kids are fascinated by the science behind it. For example, you can paraphrase some of the info on this page: http://www.ar...

I believe that Tom's of Maine has several flavors that are not mint-based. Also, I think that Crest just recently came out with some toothpaste which is citrus-flavored. And there is an expensive French toothpaste which is (I think) anise flavored. If you want, I can provide links for these products...

Common expander complaints with kids (or even adults)?

My daughter will be getting an expander on her top arch in a couple of months. I was wondering what some common complaints are about having the expander in your mouth? I have heard that stringy food can get caught on it. Is there anything else to be aware of? Also, how difficult is it for a kid to e...
