I went in about a week ago and they put a small bend in my wire to pull my canine down so it's even with the other. This bend is put there for an entirely different reason. Some orthodontists (mine included) will put bends in the wire to level teeth rather than moving brackets throughout treatment....

Yep, it's normal for teeth to loosen. The ligaments reform to allow the tooth to move. Without looseness, there can't be movement. Still, if you are concerned, call your orthodontist and tell him/her about it. They can put your mind at east or ask you to come in for a quick check. Don't substitute t...

yikes!

Looks like a closing loop to my non professional eye.

Is it part of the arch wire? It looks like it from here.

Did you take this picture at the orthodontist? I see rubber gloves on those fingers. I never thought to do this while I was in treatment, what a great idea!

I always feel like an otter or something in the process of them being put on as I sit there with several lengths of wire sticking out the bottom whilst my ortho works her way out! I sincerely hope you are wearing eye protection during this procedure! had a student once who came in after a cornea sc...

I'll bet it is just referred pain? Or perhaps the other teeth being pulled back into alignment is pushing on those teeth as a set causing the pain. Either way, give your ortho a call and ask him/her what's going on. Take something for the pain if you need to. Hopefully it will settle down by Monday ...

For those of you planning a beautiful hunk of steak, your teeth may be a little sore for a while post braces.

I'm not discouraging you, but just be aware of this...chewing meat may or may not be entirely comfy.

CHEERS TO YOU ALL!

Ate a Goldrush Chicken Sandwich and bit into it with my FRONT TEETH! Then I flossed my teeth IN MY CAR!

I will never forget how wonderful that felt, both biting into a favorite sandwich and flossing so quickly and without a mirror :D

Sure can! I had Opals someone else here has had another brand. That was a few years ago and there are probably a few others by now. I think 3M has come out with one recently. Be sure to ask your ortho about this. Only a few use them on a normal basis, but yours may decide to give it a try...

I am 1 1/2 years post braces and I wore/wear my retainers as indicated. My upper two incisors STILL MOVE every single day. I was on a trip and forgot to put my retainer in before I went to bed one night last week and thought, "It'll be okay, it's been a year and a half." WELL, my two front...

I had Opals. They really are significantly different in appearence. Here's a picture of them in my mouth. Only 2 people on Arch Wired in the past 4 years have had them, not sure they are used much in the US...or anywhere for that matter. Heck, I don't know if my ortho still uses them... They held th...
