Re: My powerchains are disgusting...

No - leave them on! You will lose ground if you take them off. They won't be noticeable to other people.

Re: Smilehope's story

Thanks, Jem. Nothing seems to have happened with my lowers for ages - but there are still some gaps between my incisors and the midline is way off to the left. I'm assuming he'll address those things later when my gaps are closed and he's working on the bite. I'm trying not to worry about the bite y...

Elastics tasting bad?

I've been using elastics for 8 days now. For the past 3 days I've had a really bad taste in my mouth, like mothballs. There are no pains or sore gums anywhere, so I'm assuming it is something to do with the elastics, especially as the taste seems to be mostly at the sides of my tongue near the back,...

Re: Smilehope's story

Shame my pearl ligs have already stained - I was staying with my mum, and the evening of my appointment this week she cooked curry!

Re: Smilehope's story

Ok, so here are the latest pics, with new hardware. I really can't believe it's been nearly a year. For anyone just starting out - it does go really quickly! http://img571.imageshack.us/img571/2678/p1010849p.jpg Uploaded with ImageShack.us http://img827.imageshack.us/img827/7834/p1010836ej.jpg Uploa...

Re: Smilehope's story

Does anyone find it never pays to guess what will happen next? I was assuming I'd get powerchains for my extraction gaps, but I've joined the elastics club instead. I think I have got away lightly though, as my elastics go along not between my wires. I had hooks added to my upper wires in front of m...

Re: My First Week

Hi, Tiggypippin - well done for getting braced. Hope you get used to them soon. It's really exciting to watch crowded teeth separate out. Be patient the first couple of months though!

Re: Jem's belated story

Hi Jem, I hope you're nearly done. At least the snow should be gone next week - I think its going to get warmer / wetter at the weekend. Sounds like you'll get a debracing date soon!

Re: Arch expanding appliances - which are which?

I had an expanding bite plate which separated my upper molars a bit, but the front of the arch is being widened by the shape of the archwire.

Re: Is this right?

Hi, Question. I think it depends why you have an overbite. I had my fixed lowers for 6 months before I got my uppers on, but I did have a removable (but only removed for brushing) bite plate on the uppers during that time. My lower teeth were tipped in, so in order to correct my overbite my bottom t...

Re: Smilehope's story

Thanks, guys. I'm not too worried about the huge black triangle yet. I don't think it shows with normal talking or smiling - only when I laugh (or do cheesy grin for camera). My teeth have a lot of moving to do, and as Jem says, they'll all come back inwards together - when my gaps start closing (I ...

Re: Smilehope's story

Still ouch. It's funny how you can spend 6 weeks between appointments and think not much has happened, yet things have progressed to another stage of treatment. Serves me right for staring at my teeth too much! http://img163.imageshack.us/img163/2262/p1010828c.jpg http://img822.imageshack.us/img822/...

Re: Smilehope's story

OUCH! I wasn't particularly expecting a wire change today, but now I have thick stainless steel wires top and bottom. I've lost the power chain, but now have white wire ties on the upper front six instead. Wires ? 19/25 or something like that. Apparently this is my "finishing" wire - still...

Oh that is so cute! Will look forward to your progress - you'll both look fabulous at the end of your treatment.
