Re: New member: 27 and getting braces

I'm sorry it hasn't worked out with linguals so far. I got my braces last year at 26 (top clear/bottom metal) and have been very happy with them. Hope you find an orthodontic plan you are comfortable with!

I've made it to 6 months!!! 2015Month6-Comparison.jpg 20150306Month6-UppersComparison.jpg 201500306Month6-LowersComparison.jpg The pictures pretty much speak for themselves. My teeth have come a long way! I had a short appointment today to change my ligs. I also got a metal tie on my upper lateral i...

Re: BeautifulDisaster - Story Revealed

I appreciate all the responses! Luckly, the soreness only lasted about 48 hours. I am now 5 months into braces. 2015Month5-Comparison.jpg 20150208Month5-UppersComparison.jpg 20150208Month5-LowersComparison.jpg I'm glad my lower left canine has found some space to squeeze in. Re: Orchid's journey (lingual top, bottom ceramics)

I know what you mean about being embarrassed with your smile and covering your mouth when you laugh. I was the same way pre-braces. I actually think your "before" isn't bad at all. I had so much crowding that they never resembled anything close to "straight." I had my teeth clean...

Re: I took a big bite of a cheeseburger...

I noticed the same thing while eating a slice of apple! For the first time as an adult, my bite left behind a nice arch.
It's definitely something worth getting excited over!

Re: confused regarding braces

Like Featheryy1221, I went on three consultations and had different treatment plans for each one.

Personally, I would be wary of invisalign if you want the best results. If you are committed to braces, you may as well get the best possible results.

A third consultation might help ease your mind.

Re: How aften are your adjustments?

For the first 3ish months, I was going to the ortho about twice a month because I had a lot of different things going on, including a fitting and installation of a palatal bar.

Now that things are moving along, I'm at 6 weeks.

Re: Regrets and cavities

I'm sorry to hear that. My teeth have always been a piece of work. The way I see it, once my teeth are straight and my brackets are gone, it will be so much easier to care for them, and they will be healthier as a result. I hope you can stick to your treatment. I think it will be worth it in the end.

Re: Front teeth extra sore

It sounds like it's a normal adjustment. My front teeth were pretty tender for the first month of braces. Even when I was able to chew with my back teeth, I had trouble biting into food with my front teeth. 4 months in, and I still prefer cutting up food or biting into it with the side of my mouth. ...

Re: BeautifulDisaster - Story Revealed

I wasn't planning on posting until my 5 month update, but getting a bracket on my lower canine seemed like enough of a milestone to merit a picture. 20150125-Smile.jpg It looks a lot like the other lower canine did when I first got braces. I got demoted to a thinner wire in the lowers to allow for g...

Re: Story of a twentyseven-year-old

Congratulations on the braces! I'm 26 (almost 27). I never smiled with my teeth pre-braces because I was so self-conscious. Having braces has actually improved my self-esteem. It took me about 2 weeks to fully embrace them, but I really like them now. I also have clear brackets on my uppers, and I l...
