Gatorseh~ One idea for you is to go to the hospital where the surgery is going to be and had get acquatined with it (I did this). I went to the Oral Surgery post op floor and chatted with some of the nurses. It help disapate some of the fear of the unknown. The odds of having an issue with anesthesi...

My teeth met nicely after surgery for about 3 days and then my bite started movning and my midline was way off at about 7 days. My OS said that the swelling frequently goes down unevenly from side to side, and that made sense. Then I developed an open bite as only my centrals touched for quite a whi...

I'll second that, Meryaten. I asked Redstar this same question on another thread--with no response. Really, it makes very little sense for you to be here, Redstar, since you have made it very clear you're not interested in orthognathic surgery. That being the case, there is very little you will be a...

OH, I am so happy for you OzzyzMom! You certainly had your share of stress putting this together, and I am so glad that your efforts are paying off now. I admire your perserverence in getting to this point so quickly given your hurdles, namely such an unsupportive ortho. Yes, these surgeries are bot...

Well it sounds like the time you invested in getting all these consultations has paid off in terms of feeling comfortable with the information they have given you. You certainly did your homework, and it sounds like you are clear on what the best option is for you. I was really impressed with the th...

I thought that swelling usually peaked sooner than day 4 or 5 --more like around day 3. Anyway, yes you are definitely a bit swollen, but I doubt the swelling will keep up the same pace. even if it does continue. Very interesting about what your doc had to say about your nerve being well protected r...

Redstar~ I am glad that you are comfortable with your choice to proceed with braces only and opt out of the surgery which your ortho recommended. Obviously, SleazyG made a different choice and is very happy with his decision. If you can't at least be supportive of the people here in the ORTHOGNATHIC...

OH wow! I didn't expect to hear from you today! Especially after 4 hour 40 minute surgery! Trooper! I'm so glad that you are doing so well. Don't foget that your swelling will peak at day 3 so don't worry if you get a bit more swollen than you are now. KEEP ICE on it as much as you can right now. Ge...

Hey Tor~ Yes, I would be counting down the days until splint removal, too, BUT! I predict with 100% conviction that you will just LOVE your new face and not miss your old one AT ALL once all the swelling goes down and you grow more accustomed to it! (I can still see a little swelling, too, in your p...
