Ya it does suck to lose everything, but you can get it back. I have been road biking for about three years now and was amazed at how much muscle I lost in my legs after just two weeks post surgery. It sucks, but I'll get it back next summer ya know. I'm just staying on the cautious side because who ...

I guess it really all comes down to what type of surgery you had. I had double jaw and genio and am wired shut for 6.5 weeks or so. During my wired time there is no way I'm lifting heavy weights or anything like that. When you lift weights you may not know it, but it will strain muscles even in your...

I woke up with a tube in my nose that went to my stomach to keep as much out of it as possible. They took it out soon after I woke up, well I wasn't really all there, but I wasn't knocked out anymore. I to was quite anxious about the tube because I thought it would make me gag and throw up, but noth...

Sorry to hear about the relapse, at least it's not a huge amount though right. I'm sure you're still better off than where you were in the start though, even though that's probably not what you want to hear. Is there anything else that can be done with out surgery? If you don't mind me asking, were ...

I hear that ^. Although I'm just at the start of my 4th week post op, the residual swelling is keeping me from seeing what I'll look like! I know most of it will go away after my splint is taken out along with the anchors that lie right below my eyes, but man time is going so slow.

SARPE is really no fun, actually more annoying than anything. I didn't have much pain at all, but the appliance took some getting used to because I had such a narrow upper arch. The gap sucks and mine didn't close like Chicago29's did until my braces went on but what can you do. Yes I would do it ov...

I wouldn't do heavy exercising for months and then some. Walking on the other hand will help with swelling so that should be fine. Sleeping: I was back in my bed with two pillows at around 2 weeks, but it's different for everyone. I certainly don't recommend sleeping on your stomach that soon though...

It really depends on the person I guess. I had minimal swelling and no bruising on my face, that was all on my chest. For what it's worth I didn't use anything before or after my surgery for swelling with the exception of ice packs. If you are fairly lean person you probably won't have that much swe...

I would bet that it's a pretty common practice to even out a chin bone while doing a genioplasty. The surgeon is already cutting the tip of the chin off and in many cases removing bone while sliding it forward. I see no reason why they wouldn't be shaving a side to make it more symmetrical. I just h...

I know of a good surgeon around Chicago, PM if you are interested. Also, a member on this message board, Chicago29, had a Chicago area surgeon do his work so you could contact him as well.

I can't think of anything worse than not liking the out come, but have you giving it enough time to fully heal and show the final result? I just had my jaws done and with it came a genio and the more I heal the more I like what was done. When I first came out of surgery I refused to look at my self ...

Sorry to hear about your infection, I'm sure that must really suck. I was on an anti biotic for a week after surgery as well, but I was on Amoxicillin. Best part about that drug is that it was cherry flavored, much better tasting than the tylenol with codein.

Hope your hives get better.
