Re: Working immediately after getting braces
Heh, oh boy do I remember this day for me. Definitely one for the books... I decided to go back to work afterwards; my appointment was at 9:00 so after getting braced, I went back into the office at around 11:00. All seemed well at first, aside from the new sensation of having things that felt like ...

Re: Newbie here!
Best of luck in getting braced! Sending a whole lotta well-wishes your way, because I know exactly how you feel! I too, have an impacted eye-tooth/canine and waited until my twenties (I'm 23) to finally drag it down. My journey started back in August, and thank God, since then I'm seeing some great ...

Re: The waiting room
Ugh, allll the time! I don't think it's as awkward as it could be, since even though I'm 23, I've been told I look like I just graduated high school lol But since I come in by myself, some of the parents look at me strangely before my appointment, and even stranger afterwards when I'm up at the desk...

Re: What do springs do?
When I had a spring in the beginning of my treatment process (Aug to Dec) it was to create space for an impacted canine tooth to grow in. I think the way it works is as the braces tighten your teeth the spring causes the wire to push in both ways to widen a space...

Re: 35 Years Old - Impacted K9's
Yep, actually I guess you could say it was less time than that, considering I didn't even have my exposure surgery until December, so in actuality it's only been 4 months and the canine's starting to come down. Sorry to hear that yours is having slower progress. :( You can't see any part of the toot...

Re: 35 Years Old - Impacted K9's
In doing research beforehand, I did come across a case or two where they did give fake teeth to fill in the gaps, but I didn't have it or ask my ortho about doing that. I'm paying for my braces by myself (with some help from my mother's insurance) which is pretty pricey on its own, so I know I just ...

Re: The things we don't realise we do without braces
GAH, this is so true!!! After getting braces I realized how much I took for granted eating beforehand. My biggest frustration is in having to either cut up everything (like right now for example; I'm using a fork and knife to cut up a freakin DONUT because if I bite into it, the gooey-ness will get ...

Re: 35 Years Old - Impacted K9's
Lucky you, you had flippers where the gaps are! I'm 23 years old and had an impacted canine as well, on my right side. I think you should definitely go through with getting braces; trust me, I had the EXACT same worries you do (self-conscious about a gap, worried the treatment wouldn't even work, et...

Re: Drinking Coffee with braces - teeth stains?
I was soooo paranoid about this at first! I'm a specialty coffee (lattes, espresso etc) fanatic, so as painful as it was for me, I'd initially resolved to swear off all coffee when I got braces. ...Two months later that ship sailed lol. 24 months is my predicted treatment time, and I soon came to th...

Hey there! Thanks for the pics, wow your situation (minus the canine between the molars) looks pretty identical to mine actually, cavity in the retained baby tooth, and all! Glad to know I'm not the only twenty-something with this problem :) If you want a more detailed explanation on my treatment so...

Re: pain in only one tooth
I can relate to this too; usually it's my right front tooth. I was sooo paranoid about it at first, because obviously if there's any tooth you don't want to have problems with, it's those, but when I went to my dentist she checked them and said it's normal, even several weeks after an adjustment. Wi...

Re: Want braces, but fear is getting the best of me.
Think of it this way; at least your biggest issue only sounds like an overbite. Me? I got braces because one of my baby teeth never fell out so I had to get it extracted and wait for my braces to bring down the adult canine tooth. It's normal to be self-conscious about having braces and what people ...

Re: Which Waterpik attachment?
I use the clear one and the one with the brush; don't know the official terms for them, but they seem to get the job done every night and my teeth always look just a little bit cleaner after I use them :) I have the blue one though, and I've always wondered the difference between that and the clear;...

Re: IMPACTED CANINES CLUB
More good news/update! I went to my dentist two weeks ago to have my teeth cleaned; I voiced some concerns over my lateral incisor (tooth next to impacted canine) hurting, so she took an x-ray of the area and said that it was just due to tension from tooth movement and my impacted canine is growing ...

Roof of mouth question? Please help!
Hey there I need a question answered about oral surgery done in the roof of the mouth. About three months ago I had an impacted canine exposed and retained baby tooth removed through the roof my mouth. It took the standard time for the palate to stop feeling like silly putty, but now in my dental mi...
