Re: Time to blossom - lilyflower's story

Week 5 update: Today officially marks 5 weeks of Invisalign. Definite changes so far, I was going to say that absolutely nothing had changed on my top arch but I noticed that my right central and lateral incisors are perfectly straight to each other now. They didn't start off that far apart but that...

Re: Bring it on!

I don't think my ortho office has ever had someone swallow a spacer. But we've all decided that its better to swallow a spacer than a bracket, wire tie, or surgical hook. Three rounds of spacers is quite impressive. I'd say I have to agree with you on swallowing the spacer over a bracket! I can't s...

Re: Time to blossom - lilyflower's story

Over one month in update: It's now over one month: I am still home with my lovely technicolor ankle so here's an update. 1) Alcoholic beverages that don't stain aligners - White wine - Ginger ale and vodka (I recommend whipped creme vodka - it's a very nice combo) - Sprite with any type o...

Re: Time to blossom - lilyflower's story

Day 30: Wow, I can't believe it's Day 30 already. Almost a month has gone by and I do have to say I've adjusted to this whole process pretty well. I'm on the second day of the new set of aligners and while they're tight in places it's definitely not painful. What IS painful is my damn sprained ankle...

Re: Did any of you get braces/invisalign for mostly cosmetic reasons?

I'll be honest, I went Invisalign over braces for purely cosmetic reasons. However, that's not why I started treatment - I had some pretty bad lower crowding that was getting worse over the years and was becoming very difficult to keep clean. I realized that I was pretty much at the point that if I ...

Re: Is it possible to intrude teeth without an anchorage device?

Sure it's possible but it depends on how much intrusion is being aimed for and what else needs to be done. I have Invisalign and my plan does call for some minor intrusion for a deep bite but nothing huge. Only an ortho can tell you for sure and it also depends on what you're aiming for - if you're ...

Re: Can I stop getting adjustments for half a year?

I also really don't see this as a possibility but it would depend on your case/problems/etc. Theoretically, if you're an Invisalign candidate this COULD be possible if your ortho agreed (and I'm not sure many would agree to give you six months worth and not see you). No matter what option you go wit...

Re: Not happy with ortho office after braces.

I have invisalign which I know isn't as strong as the Essix but I would highly recommend trying one of those tool things mentioned up thread. I know a lot of people with Invisalign who have a lot of attachments (which makes removing aligners harder - trust me on this) swear by them. The other option...

Re: Time to blossom - lilyflower's story

The mess is starting to look less messy! I notice quite a bit of change with your bite already. Thinks are starting to look good! Yup, it's been much much easier to floss there for a few weeks now. Somewhere around set 9 (I'm on 3 now) the lower crowding should mostly be resolved and then it'll be ...

Re: Breakfast on the go ideas?

How is eating a yoghurt going to be messy? If you used to do it before your braces successfully I don't see how it would be an issue now? Am I missing something? How about trying yoghurt type drinks if a spoon is difficult? Or the breakfast on the go shakes you can get in the supermarket? Sorry jus...

Re: Time to blossom - lilyflower's story

Day 29: So I haven't had much to report beyond my painful ankle, which is thankfully not as bad today. However, today is also aligner change day. I just put in set 3 :jump: Both top and bottom fit snugly but I definitely had to do some work with a chewie to get the top to fully seat and I still don'...

Re: Bring it on!

Never had to deal with spacers - they sound annoying. I think the most annoying part of them is my brain refuses to believe they aren't a piece of food stuck in my teeth. I can't tell you how much time I spend trying to remove them with my tongue before remembering they are there. :-( My brain refu...
