Re: SARPE Surgery

I guess my case was different than yours, because I had the appliance put in right before my surgery (3 days prior). It seems odd that you have the appliance in now when you're not having surgery until next year. I only had the appliance in for about 3 and a half months total. It is like a medieval ...

Re: Anxiety about food restrictions

I wouldn't worry too much about staining, and even then, it's the bands, not the brackets, which get changed out every ortho visit. I've been drinking coffee, eating red sauces, drinking red wine, etc and it's been totally fine. My ortho didn't even recommend against those things, the paperwork he g...

Re: Seriously? Bracket fell off already - 2nd day

I wouldn't worry too much about it, I had the same thing happen to me a couple days after getting braces on. Sounds like the tooth was in a similar position to mine as well, but after getting the bracket put back on, I've not had any more issues.

Re: SARPE Surgery

Hi all, I am having my SARPE surgery at the beginning of September. Thankfully didn't need braces on before the surgery! I have a few questions: 1) how long were you on a liquid diet for? 2) did you doctor give you a time frame of how long to wait before doing exercise? By exercise I mean weightlif...

Re: Braces at 39

I'm 35, and I just got braces 4 months ago, and I noticed one of my two front teeth changing colors as well. In my case I think it was because the powerchain was pulling it over too aggressively, but I don't know for sure. I talked to the orthodontist and dentist about it, and took the powerchain of...

Re: Worthwhile to get braces at 38?

I have the same problem at 42 years old with a deep overbite of 6mm and crowding and spacing issues, Have seen a good orthodontist and he is able to fix the big overbite and spacing with full fixed metal braces, Invisalign is not an option for me and neither is any of the other options as they are ...

Re: I need advice! Please help!

I totally understand where you're coming from, but like I said, I don't think anyone would notice/think about your chin at all. There's something about EVERY face (def including mine) that could be improved with surgery, but I'm not sure if that's a good reason to have it done. You're definitely not...

Re: I need advice! Please help!

Honestly, I think you have a cute face. I don't think I would have ever thought about your chin at all if I had met you in person. Now, are there things that people can do surgery-wise to make themselves more attractive? Yes, that's why the plastic surgery industry exists. Would your face look bette...

Re: SARPE under local anesthesia

I don't know of any, but it doesn't seem like a surgery that I'd want to have under local anesthesia. Extreme yikes.

Just curious, why are metal brackets better than ceramic brackets?

Re: SARPE/Braces at 35

Four and a half weeks since my surgery, and almost a week in braces. Had a bracket pop off one of my lateral incisors last week, so had to go in yesterday to get it put back on. While I was there, they put another power chain between my two front teeth. The initial one had 4 lengths, this time they ...

Re: SARPE/Braces at 35

Had my three week check up with my oral surgeon on Tuesday, which was 3 days ago. Turned the expander 46 times, for a total of 11.5mm of expansion. All told it created a gap of about 8mm between my two front teeth. My right side definitely expanded more than my left, but after talking with both my s...

Re: 3 Months Post Op-Have Many Questions

Yes, I had a Lefort 1 2 piece and on the mandibular a subapical osteotomy. Did you have your surgery three months ago as well? Do you still have swelling and or numbness? Sounds like you had a more complex procedure done than me, although I had the Lefort as part of SARPE. I had my surgery on March...

Re: 3 Months Post Op-Have Many Questions

What type of surgery did you have? I only had a Lefort 1 maxillary osteotomy, so I think mine must have been less complex than yours.
