Is this considered an emergency?
It’s a Saturday and the wire that winds around the bracket has broken (not the archwire but the wire that holds it in place). Is this something I should call about or should I wait til Monday when they are open? (I’ve only had braces for 2 weeks).

Re: Distalizers vs rubber bands
Since you and I are both considering carrieres, do you know if braces with elastics can achieve the same results?

Re: Reversing premolar extractions
Check Dr. William Hang with Face Focused Orthodontics. I have seen his name dropped several times about this issue.

Re: Distalizers vs rubber bands
The carriere corrects the bite first, whereas most traditional treatments align the teeth, then fix the bite. I was told that this shortens the overall treatment time. It's supposed to be a more aesthetic way of fixing your bite too since there are no brackets on the teeth.

Re: Face changed after extraction, noticeably worse, worried
I see what you mean. I currently have a deep bite. Your after looks like my before and your before looks like what I want my profile to look like afterwards. Did the ortho advance your upper teeth and pull back your lowers? Maybe to broaden your smile you had to sacrifice with some overbite? As long...

Re: Second consult with same ortho?
Thank you for your responses! I called one of the offices and they were totally fine to having another second complementary consult. Makes me feel even better about choosing them.

Second consult with same ortho?
I think I may have narrowed things down to 2 orthos that I have previously consulted with. However, some new questions came up in my mind after I met with others. Has anyone asked to have a second consult with an ortho prior to treatment? Were they generally open to it and was it still complementary?

Re: Gold Braces
I think gold braces would look pretty cool, but only on bottom to get a glimpse. I wouldn’t do upper and lower but that’s just me.

In a consult today the doc said that I had a wide smile because I showed 8-10 teeth when I smiled. Looks like in your prebraces photos you had the same but your post-braces I am only seeing 6 teeth. Maybe it’s the way you’re smiling too. But arches do get smaller when you remove some teeth.

Re: Teeth pushed too far back
I would put the braces back on, since he says he can flare them out, and when it’s to your satisfaction tell him to stop. Better than being unhappy with your teeth now or spending more money to see someone else.

Re: Reversing the retraction of teeth without implants?
Did you have a lot of lip protrusion beforehand? Then the retraction would create a noticeable difference.

Re: Reversing the retraction of teeth without implants?
I would think that if you pulled the teeth back outward, you are reexpanding the arch and creating space, so you would need an implant to fill in the new space. At least that’s what I was told at a consult.

Ladnib I can see what you mean about the teeth but I do think your profile is improved.
