Re: BRACES AT 63!!!
Welcome......... I thought I was the only 60's person around here...good to have you. It was braces or false teeth for me, alignment was way off. I'm at almost a year now, and except for the "Adjustments" it's just a pain keeping everything clean. Keep us up to date on your progress. oldguy

Oldguy here....... I have had Ni-Ti heat activated wire since my braces went on, it's what they use with Damon braces. My first wires were small and round, then I graduated to a small square wire, but still Ni-Ti. You will know when you get near the end of a cup of coffee, you can feel the wires pul...

I use a Waterpik.........I have a base unit and a portable. Also use GUM trees...little green flossers. Don't always have my reading glasses, so I need a fast good way to get things clean. I have a power chain, and I would not be able to floss if I didn't have the this equipment. As my teeth move I ...

I have 2 and it's the best thing I have for cleaning...I have a base unit, and a portable. My old teeth are very close together, I still have all 32, so flossing has been an issue, as the braces align my teeth, slowly, I am able to floss, but I have always been able to use the waterpik......It does ...

Re: Getting braces at 19, very excited!!
Oldguy... Starter wires like yours are very flexible and round, then there is thicker round wires they use...all to get the teeth rotated, and aligned along the arch wire. Then..the square wire, which actually move the roots at least this is what I've been told and experienced. Every time they go up...

Re: Getting braces at 19, very excited!!
Oldguy...... I'm 6 months ahead of you, so as the wires got heavier it moved my whole arch outward, that made spaces where I never had them before., the chains pull the teeth next to each other on the arch wire. I only have a short chain on one side....other than cleaning around it, it's no problem.

You shouldn't have to put a yardstick in your mouth, bite into some wax ..and measure it.

Hi Dee.... Haven't been on the computer for a while, with the holidays. I am about a month ahead of you with the braces....So far I have the second round wire top and bottom, and that's all. My Ortho is de-rotating, a word I think, and leveling all my teeth. This has made 4 spaces, where I didn't ha...
