I am considering this, but I also have my qualms about it too. I have a black triangle that has appeared - yet I hope it will go away as my treatment progresses. I just don't know how I feel about them shaving my enamel off...

Things really do "appear" to get worse before they get better. Asking questions is your job, as we are our best advocates.

You need to ask your ortho to order you some or ask him why he can't get them for you. This would probably be the safest thing.

I believe braces are becoming more of a financial status symbol, rather than a "nerd" status symbol. Braces are expensive and more adults are getting them NOW because they couldn't afford them as children. Children in the US don't get braces unless their family can afford it or unless thei...

^^^ I think it really has to do with how well your ortho and your regular dentist can cooperate. I have been told they can be done immediately and that your retainers can literally be molded after you get your veneers put on -- with minimum delay.

Chewing gum is something I'm not allowed to do because of my TMJ. I also have elastics, so chewing gum is pretty much impossible! One of my ortho assistants told me to chew gum at one point to help work out some of the inital soreness, then she remembered that it was my TMJ that landed me there in t...

I smile differently now that I have braces. I have to physically move my mouth more than I did before for normal talking, chewing, and smiling. I noticed a change after my adjustment this week... I have to smile differently in order to my lips around my brackets and new chains.

I have peg incisors and right now, I have composite bonding on the two teeth. I was SHOCKED with the drastic change after they did the composite bonding in the office, as I had no idea how much of a difference it would make in my smile. Here is a link to my set of pictures done at 7months, with my b...

If your ortho says its okay, then I wouldn't worry. I know it will be uncomfortable, but the braces are there to literally hold your teeth in too :D My teeth get really loose sometimes and its more annoying than anything because of the sheer pain involved, but they eventually "harden" and ...

I think it will come down to it being a personal preference whether or not to wear them when swimming. Elastics can limit your range of movement in the mouth/ jaw --- so if you feel you can't open your mouth enough to breathe while swimming, then take them out while swimming. Otherwise, they probabl...

I just got TWO new powerchains on bottom, however they go across like half of my teeth and up and around brackets - not over the brackets. It is really strange. They are literally tied down in back on my premolar and then up and around a bracket, then they are anchored down in front of my lower cani...

I love my molar build-ups and they gave me a wire today that was bent, to try and lower my 4 bottom front teeth so I would stop biting on my brackets. Despite 3 different set of molar build-ups, I have not been able to keep my teeth off my brackets. Gratefully I have not noticed any chipping. Have y...

I was really confused today as to what they were doing... and when I asked the ortho, he gave a brief explanation and then the tech explained it in more detail. She even gave me the mirror and showed me what she was doing and what it would look like. I'm still not completely sure HOW it will work, b...
