Get multiple opinions and know what your full range of options are before you decide. I didn't want extractions and I knew I had crowding, so I made very clear when I was looking. I got 2 evals and found out about the 2 types of braces that I could afford/ were practical options for me (Damon and tr...

I bring my music to the dentist, but not the orthodontist anymore. I brought it for the day I had them put on and they wouldn't let me use it, because they were going to be giving instructions. I also have the most awesome orthodontist because they play rather loud music in the background that is my...

I have been using the proxy brush thingie since I first got my braces and I could not live without it at times. I have lots of crowding and they are my lifesavers. I also swear by Oral-B Super floss! I bought a 30 dollar version of a water pick and it feels heavenly, but according to both my dentist and orthodontist --- IT DOES NOT REPLACE FLOSSING! I tend to use it more when my teeth are aching too much to floss, like right after I get work done on them or when they just have their achy periods...

Don't worry... the pain will start soon! Hehe... I am 25 and just got my braces this past November, also using Damon. My braces hurt like nothing describeable and I started with elastics too. I was OTC pain meds round the clock until they made me sick about 3 days later because I couldn't eat and th...

I am slated for a 18month treatment plan and the whole time is planned for elastics. I have TMD and the cosmetic corrections will be a nice addition, but I'll be in elastics my entire time. I started out with one set, then they switched me from 2oz strength to 6oz strength within the first maybe 3 w...
