It depends on the case. Some cases can be solved by using elastics to bring the jaw forward http://www.sanfordbraces.com/images/elastics.jpg In other case (like mine) the lower jaw bone is too short, and elastics will put strain on the joint. So surgery is required to advance the lower jaw called bi...

I eat at restaurants a lot. I always try to chew my food on one side and at the very back. There's also the "braces swish" as I call it. Drink some water and try to be sneaky about swishing it through your braces to loosen the food. I also talk with my hand over my mouth or try to talk wit...

Congratulations, today is your big day! I also suffer from bad anxiety, and have so for the last 8 years. I had a lot of anxiety going into the whole braces journey, and for my first several adjustments. But then I realized it's no big deal, and I'm in and out of that chair like it's nothing. Don't ...

I think gaps are cute on other people - just not on me! it's strange haha. Well, I am a teenager for a few more months, but I think looking under 14 is a little sad. My original powerchain was grey, but I decided to move onto colours because of the staining. I've had turquoise, purple, and pink. I'v...

I would definitely look into a second opinion, 5 years is a long time!
Of course I don't know your case but it still sounds insane.

I've had mine for a year and 3 months, and my teeth are looking good. I have pictures in my story

Wooo congratulations on taking the plunge! They look great... the wave on that top archwire is quite spectacular :P I think there will be a lot of us grieving all the foods we can't eat this holiday season. Group therapy! I'm getting surgery 1 week before Canadian Thanksgiving, sigh. My favourite me...

Hey there! Your braces look great on you :) Don't worry about things getting "worse" as I definitely experienced that. My gaps seemed to get bigger in places, but now they're all closed up. I had a lot of "what the hell does the orthodontist think he's doing?" but... apparently h...

It's been a while since i updated here. I got my pre-surgical records done yesterday and so I have new pictures of my teeth! Before braces vs. 15 months with braces I burnt the roof of my mouth on a springroll, so that's why it's really red between my two front teeth :P http://img.photobucket.com/al...

"It might pinch a little" Don't you love that?
My favourite line is "you might feel this a bit" and then I have to spend the next week popping ibuprofen while holding an ice pack to my chin.

Congratulations on your new teefs ^^ Now you can really get things going.

Bless!

Oh but Katie, vampires are "in" these days :P

Congrats on getting your braces. I agree, it's such a weird feeling at first haha.

Keep embracing your braces! Things will move around quickly and I'm sure you'll be able to close your bite soon.

Take care!

Congratulations! You seem a lot more excited than I was when I first got my grill. My initial reaction was "Oh dear God, what have I done to my face?" You'll get used to the feeling after several days. I can remember wanting to rip those things out of my face. Not because of pain, bu...

Hey everyone, it's been a while! The last few months, my adjustments have just been them taking off my wires, letting me brush my teeth, and then putting the same ones back on. I was told my teeth are in position for my lower jaw surgery now, and it was just a matter of waiting until October for my ...
