The one I have is probably like the one you had previously, where it is anchored to 2 teeth, with a smooth wire that sits inbetween. So, yes there still are those type out there. When I got my braces off for the second time, I was given one the first time like the one you are describing, and I felt ...

Thanks Karen for your reply! Sorry my response was so belated! Today I went to the ortho and I am supposed to wear my lower essix all day along with my lower permanent retainer, in hope that it will fix the shifting. I go back on Jan. 24th to figure out what to do from there, and am hoping for the b...

Thanks Lizzy! This site is great, eh? Well, as far as this morning's appointment was concerned, it turns out they want me to wear my lower essix all day for a few weeks along with my permanent, and see if that moves everything back where it's supposed to be. I will have to see how that goes, as I ma...

I would certainly address this with your ortho when you go back in to pick up your retainers. They may be able to adjust your retainer so that it can fix that, especially if you feel your braces came off too soon.

Good luck with everything!!

With Monday approaching, I am suddenly getting a tad nervous (though I am sure I have no reason to be), as I have just read some things about root reabsorption. If I were to have to get my lower braces for a third time (even the thought of that makes me shudder) wouldn't that put me at an even highe...

What I can tell you is that essix will effect your speech the least, and that is what I would request in your situation. I had hawleys when I had my braces off the first time and didn't care for them much. This time I have essix at night, as well as a fixed lower. If I were in you, I would ask for a...

Issues with teeth shifting despite lower fixed retainer

I got my braces removed in February and now wear a lower fixed retainer, and upper and lower essix retainers at night. Despite the fixed retainer, it seems as though a few of my lower teeth have shifted. I am a bit shy and a bit apprehensive to call the ortho's office. In addition, I am afraid that ...

A bit late to join perhaps...

Hello all! My name is Becky, I'm 26 and live in Fort Worth, Texas. I had braces for a little over 2 years from age 11-13, and yes, as a result of being a dumb teenager didn't wear my retainers as much as I should have. So, at age 24, I wound up having to get braces again (had my lowers 9 months, upp...
