Back from rehab. (Not drugs)

I have been out of rehab for almost a week. I had been in speech therapy since the stroke. I can now formulate full sentences, and do not halt my speaking nearly as much. My periodontist said that my oral health is in good shape, despite the first three months that I had trouble brushing. Unfortunat...

Re: I just could not escape

The stroke is cryptogenic origin, so it is unknown causes. The having a stroke though and finding a atrial septal defect and foreman patent ovale is likely. I find it that scary with knowing where the clog is. They checked me with ultrasound, and and never found anything. I just have fall apart apar...

Re: Intubation

I went to the neurologist yesterday, and they were blown away by the progress made. They never expected that I was going to recover my cognition abilities. My mom (nurse) thinks that my being ambidextrous already had made neural connections to connect on my right side. One lasting last effect is my ...

Re: Lig colours (colors)

Hopefully no bee's sting you. Also, not a big fan of the yellow. Looks like something is in your teeth (at least when I look at mine in the mirror). I have yellow now, and can't wait to change it out to something bold, like pink or lavender Black and Yellow. I wonder how many times the bees are goin...

Re: Will my Brackets snap off?

I regularly eat hard foods that I shouldn't like hard pretzels and Dorito's, and have yet to break a bracket. I looked up the tensile strength of orthodontic cement, and the ultimate strength ranges from 4.7 to 21.86 MPa. Here is a link to a different article from a mettalurgy journal. http://www.me...

Re: Will my Brackets snap off?

As an engineer, I would have to say that they would not snap off due to temperature. The difference between the coefficient of expansion in the teeth and the cement should be very similar and not cause undue stresses when exposed to temperature shock. Braces are engineered for the extreme conditions...

Re: Are Braces supposed to feel like Razors in my mouth?

I have one bracket that cuts up my tongue, but that is because the tooth is so far back and my ortho still does not have enough room to pull it foreward. The brackets are pretty sharp when there are no ligs on them.

Re: Can I do it?

Student loans suck!!! I have no nicer words to describe them.. I just got 0.18 square wires top and bottom after just 5 months. They did not hurt though, but I did need a poking wire clipped yesterday. Ebony, thats great about a job as a dental assistant. I hope it helps you with your dental fears. ...

Re: Does having Braces make you feel cool?

Hey BSS--well I'm 55, and at my age you really stop giving a sh*t what people think of you or what you do. So, ya, I like having braces. I feel like it makes me more interesting. I might only be 30, but I also really do not care much what people think. If someone is superficial enough to have isssu...

Re: Patients with wax

Funny thing is that I never used way for a poking wire. I have used it to cover a overly cold sensitive tooth though. Kept the cold air and water off of it while it moved.
