Wow, and I thought I had it bad. I haven't been on this board for months, but I see Clo's luck hasn't changed, sadly. Must be beyond frustrating.

Very sorry to see this is still going on, and hope things work out soon. Good luck.

Right, the elastics go horizontally on one arch only. The technician said that it would bring the front teeth back and help the overjet, but wouldn't the bottom teeth move back the same amount as the top, leaving me with the same overjet?

No, these are not powerchains, they are elastics (small rubber bands). I didn't know you could correct overjet with wires? Is that common?

Extraction gaps and overject

Hi,

I am getting elastics to close my extraction gaps, they go from the back of my mouth to my front teeth, horizontally.

Will this also reduce my overjet? Or will the ortho have another configuration for that? I asked him, and he said it would help, but I am not so sure.

Ok, my ticker says my braces should have been off by now. Guess what? I have a new pair of braces on now. Why? Because I let a dentist do the job the first time. Big mistake. The dentist used an expander when he shouldn't have, as I had too much crowding. The result was a severe overjet, and my mola...

Clo, sorry to hear about your situation. But I think everyone on this board is proud of the way you have handled yourself. If it makes you feel any better, I am starting treatment all over again, after two years. The expander left me with an overjet, so now I am going with the extraction route. I ca...

Out of curiousity, why did the dentist extract the laterals? Were they decaying? Seems like a very extreme action. :?:

I'm sure women are great at many things, but orthondics doesn't seem to be one of them. :P

Hi, I really hope that your teeth are ok, and that they are just discolored. But I heard a most horrific story from this guy whose daughter had braces. It turns out that the ortho moved her teeth too fast, and that caused the roots to die, along with the teeth. Her teeth became brown because of it. ...

$245 for about 25 minutes, that's $10 a minute. Considering many people have to work one hour to make $10, that's not a rip off, it's an outright scam. I would be pissed off too.

Your teeth are almost perfect, but your bite is way off, so I think it may be a good idea to get a consultation.
