I can't feel the plates in my face at all. After my surgery when I yawned it made the right side of my nose twinge, and I think it might have been the bone pushing agains the plates. But that's gone now, and I don't notice anything, except the shape of my face is different. I think I found where one...

My good friend had this a few years ago, and she practically loved it. It was all a big adventure for her. I just had a lefort 3 done almost five weeks ago, and I survived. I certainly haven't enjoyed it all, but it really does get better every day. I think the best part is just how completely crazy...

Someone asked about cous cous, and I don't know if anyone addressed it. I had no problem getting it down. The problem came when I was trying to keep it out of my splint. This was at least three weeks ago, and I'm pretty sure there's still some stuck in there. My problem is that I really don't like s...

I had a dream that I pulled them all off accidentally, and I was wondering exactly how in the world I was going to explain it to my doctor. I have a splint in right now from my jaw surgery. I had a dream that I had gum stuck to my teeth and I was trying to get it off with my tongue. When I woke up I...

If you can avoid surgery, I say avoid it. I'm 3 weeks post-op today, and it hasn't been even remotely enjoyable. They didn't wire my mouth shut, but I have a splint, and even if I wanted to chew I wouldn't be able to. I also can't talk very well because of the splint. There hasn't been very much pai...

Sudden jaw joint pain.

For no apparent reason the joint on my right side really, really hurts. The teeth were sore on that side whenever I ate, but I chalked it up to my adjustment and the teeth moving. Now the pain has moved from the teeth to the joint, and the pain won't go away. Has anyone else had this problem?

I'm 26 and I only had one canine that never came down. On Feb. 7 of this year I had my canine exposed and bonded, and it's now almost all the way down. This is a few days after the exposure and bonding: http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e12/feverred/feb21002.jpg And this was the picture I took yeste...

At my last appointment the ortho told me he's leaving, but there will be a new ortho in AUGUST. I'm definitely not happy about that. Anyway, here's the newest pic: http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e12/feverred/mar12007.jpg I still stand by my conviction that my exposed canine has been the worst par...

http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e12/feverred/feb21002.jpg So here are my teeth about a year after getting my braces. You can't really tell, but my canine is actually coming down!!! I'm very excited about it. I was afraid it would decide not to move at all. And the ortho said they don't normally a...

I got my spring in October, but it's making way for an impacted tooth that was exposed a week ago. I'm assuming the time it takes for your tooth to fill in the gap depends on where your tooth is. The ortho left the spring in after my exposure to make sure there is still room for the canine.

The thing about extraction gaps is that it's not the same as when you don't have braces and you have these huge holes in your mouth. People see your braces, and they know those gaps are there for a reason. Sure, they're not pleasant to have (I had two huge gaps, and now I'm down to one), but I find ...

I haven't had zig zag wires...but I have had wire ties, which seem to make things move fast and sharply. The worst part about the ties was the ends tended to shred my floss, which was annoying. I made sure I flossed those teeth last.

The swelling has gone down quite a bit, so I can actually tell what's going on in my mouth. One side of my gums is stitched up like Frankenstein. It's kind of freaky. The stitch on the other side actually bled a little when I brushed yesterday, but the bleeding stopped right away (by the time I rins...

I kind of stumbled across this thread, and I have to say my parents share about the same lack of interest. My husband is very supportive, and concerned about my well-being and all that great stuff. For a while we were thinking my surgery would be this spring, and since my husband wouldn't be able to...
