It's not a waste of time  .

Like you, my first adjustment was at 8 weeks (I know it feels like forever!). The thin little wire did quite a lot of work in that short time opening up tiny gaps and starting a lateral incisor on it's march forward.

I'm glad things are better now.
My mouth burns and peels like that if I use tartar control toothpaste. So I can see how whatever they used might irritate the tissue. Some of us are just more sensitive then others :?

Yikes $250 seems a little steep! Obviously there is a huge range of price for replacements.
I'm hoping they hold up well. My daughters are still in their first set after 18months so that is a good sign.

Lola, my ortho charges $75 each for replacements (have two free replacements to use up first). I'm more worried about my teeth sitting in a tray of "something" then of the tray staining. So I stick to only water when I have them on. Luckily I only have to wear my Essix 24/7 for two weeks, ...

I didn't see any chages for at least 6 weeks. And even then you could only tell in photos of my arch, not from looking head on. Some of the early changes can make things look worse , so that is something you should be prepared for. Gaps in places you don't think they are needed, bite chages that see...

Why did you decide to not have your teeth shaped? I decided before I even got the braces that I wanted to skip that step. I just didn't like the idea of it and the unevenness was so minor I didn't think it was needed. A little imperfection gives a more natural look too, in my opinion. Thanks everyo...

The bracket removal was painless. The six plastic brackes took a little wiggling to remove but the rest just popped right off. I found the glue sanding to be the most unpleasant part. My teeth are sensitive to cold so the cold air was a little uncomfortable even with the rolled cotton she used to bl...

De-braced!

As of yesterday I am brace free! I'm very pleased with the results. My only regret is that I waited so long to do this for myself  Before: http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h273/Lelahgirl/Misc%20Stuff/befores-1.jpg After: http://i66.photobucket.com/albums/h273/Lelahgirl/Misc%20Stuff/finishedsm...

And they are off!!! Everything went well. The usual bracket removal, sanding of glue (she used rolled cotton to keep some of the cold air at bay), polishing and then molds for my retainers. I asked not to have my teeth smoothed/shaped at all, just did not like the idea of it at all. I don't mind a l...

My elastics are not always uniform in thickness so one will feel tighter then the other sometimes. My guess would be that the first pair did get stretched out a bit and were looser as a result. What configuration are you wearing? Any chance you are hooking them on the wrong hook and making them tigh...

I can't imagine sticking to an exclusivly soft food diet for the entire duration. Apart from the first 2-3 days I ate a very normal diet. Whole almonds were the only thing I came across that I was not able to manage  I never broke a bracket or hindered my progress in any way. p.s. Corn-on-the-...
