Re: Hello, new here and need help please?

It will get better. Give it some time and you will feel awkward without the aligners on and when the attachments come off. Your mouth needs some time to get used to the new things in your mouth. Stick with it. You won't be sorry :).

Re: How many attachments before you wish you had normal braces

The truth is that experienced doctors will only place attachments on where they are needed. Remember, the treatment plan is supposed to be done by your doctor, and not Invisalign. Thinking about it from a realistic standpoint, your doctor will want to use less material and have less work with fewer ...

Re: Decisions decisions

Congrats on getting ready to take the plunge! Many of our patients are concerned about the anterior attachments before they get started. Having treated over 1000+ Invisalign patients, I can tell you that most of our patients blow that out of proportion relative to what others actually see. After act...

Re: Bracket placement - opinions needed

The elastics that you are using should help extrude the posterior teeth. This will allow the back teeth to start to contact first, with less force on the anterior teeth. Your right lower canine also looks quite pointed, so at the end of treatment it might not be a bad idea to smooth out the biting s...

Re: First tray Second Day

Congrats on getting started with your treatment. The attachments are usually noticed by other people who have had Invisalign and our patients themselves. This is absolutely true. Act like there is nothing on your teeth, own your treatment, and you'll find that most people do not notice them on your ...

Align Technology Introduces Changing Invisalign Every 7 Days

An interesting email sent to providing doctors last week. I knew it was coming and thought about various motivations for it. We have patients changing on all sorts of aligner cycles for many years. However, we still do not feel comfortable changing aligners every 7 days in all situations. We have a ...

Re: Floss doesn't fit between my teeth

It isn't uncommon that as the crowding unravels at the start, that the teeth get pushed together even more tightly as they try to move past each other. There is also the possibility that some of the resin for bonding the brackets might be impeding the flossing. Give it until your next visit to see i...

Re: Top teeth touching bottom brackets from deep bite

Likely some molar build ups or some bonding on the incisors to keep things from clashing until the bite allows for your back teeth to touch without biting on your braces. To help open your bite, there may be curved wires and/or elastics used as well. Congratulations on getting started!

Re: Ceramic vs Metal braces

The biggest medical consideration is that biting against a ceramic bracket is more likely to cause tooth wear or chip the opposing tooth. One other consideration is that often the ceramic braces are bigger than the metal braces and the wings of the bracket can be a bit more sharp. From a comfort st...

Re: A little annoyed at my ortho, and also at myself.

Depending on the movements planned, attachments may or may not need to be replaced. Each one can serve as an active mover or a passive anchor. Assuming your orthodontist has the right experience, and you have done your research, the treatment should progress just fine. This is never a sure thing how...

IPR and those elastics should help you with the underbite tendency. Looks like the anterior open bite is working nicely as well. Nice change thus far!

Re: 3-4 months between appointments?

Depending on the stage of treatment and the type of treatment, as well as your cooperation with treatment, this should be ok. We have several of our patients who go overseas for college an come back only for major holidays. We time the aligner schedule for their next visit and are just an email away...

First time is generally going to be the worst, particularly if done within a short time from your surgery. Try to keep the area clean so that it heals faster. It does get better each time. Stick with it :).

Re: Nickel allergy and want invisible braces... CONFUSED

For what it is worth, most people who claim to have a nickel allergy in our practice have not actually had an allergy. Often it is from non-medical grade jewellery. That being said, it is not worth going through the risk. The best thing to do is visit and allergist to get a definitive test. One note...
