If you need a full mouth rehab then I would consider a prosthodontist for treatment. If you are having an elective cosmetic procedure or other restorative work done then it is a crapshoot, it all depends on the person doing the work. You will probably like the price of a GP over a prosthodontist. An...

Hi Lily Once the palatal suture is fused (commonly in the early to mid teens), a palate expander will not actually widen the palate without surgery. But the teeth can be moved towards the edge of the supporting alveolar bone, thereby increasing the arch width. I'm sure that there are quite a few pe...

Let's hope it's just sensitivity from dentin being exposed! I am guessing that you mean cementum. Dentin exposure would mean that you wore through enamel, likely from either toothbrush abrasion, stomach acid regurgitation, or more serious genetic disorders. Cementum is the tissue on your roots and ...

Maxillary 1st premolar's have 2 roots and mandibular premolars often times have two canals. Otherwise the clinical crown of the 1st tend to be larger. You also have to take into account which segment of teeth you will be moving and which direction.

Rsprouse- are you in the dental profession to have seen people with extreme bone loss? My bottom four fron teeth have just the tip, really, in bone! Other than occasionally feeling looseness as I discussed here, however, they are not really mobile. They did have a "1" degree of mobility- ...

There are two different points in this discussion. The first is that you may or may not have a feeling of "looseness" in your teeth as you continue through treatment. The other point is actual mobility, meaning that the tooth can be moved noticeably. Normal healthy teeth have physiologic m...

Hi, Everyone is different and it all depends on your starting point. But yes, the point of orthodontics in most cases is to properly align your teeth so you have a healthy bite. The entire process is time consuming and can be quite annoying. I have gone from a bad occlusion, to a great balanced occl...

The 5 second explanation of orthodontics is that braces create directed forces on teeth. This controlled force will cause the bone on one side of the tooth to be broken down and on the other side of the tooth it is remodeled. The end result is a feeling of mobility or "looseness" in your t...

Change is tough, and once you build a relationship with a healthcare provider that you trust it is very difficult to move on. It is only fair to give the new Doc a chance. There are some people out there that would sell a practice to anyone with a pulse. But most people are very interested in the ca...

... Is it possible to only need a mini implant on a back tooth? I think you are confusing an implant with a mini-screw. Different functionality here. To replace a missing tooth at the moment you will need an implant, a bridge, or a removable partial denture. For those of you with implants --Does th...

Healthy soft tissue is a nice pink color with stripling. Any redness is typically a result of inflammation which means irritants (Plaque!!) are present. There is an old saying, "brush until it stops bleeding." The fact that your gums are not bleeding is positive, but you likely need to spe...

The ortho's office just called to make the appointment for all of this. The assistant sounded VERY sheepish when I answered the phone. :? I asked how much longer she'd be in the braces and the assistant said they were planning to do molds next month to assess that so she wasn't willing to even haza...
