Re: Are orthodontic records necessary for proper treatment?
I had paid for my impressions and photos at one orthodontist, and decided not to go with him. The 2nd orthodontist I consulted with was the one I ended up with, and I just asked the first ortho for my impressions and photos. Since I had already paid for them, technically they were mine. Fortunately,...

Re: Tongue Contortionism
I know EXACTLY what you mean about the contortionism! I just hope I can break the habit after I'm debraced. I know I make the most frightful faces when I'm trying to get a grain of rice out of my brackets. As for brushing in public, the only place I'm comfortable doing that is the bathroom at work, ...

Re: Question about Central Incisors
Yes, it's perfectly normal for ALL of your teeth to move around. That's how they'll get straightened out. Until you get braced, you'll be in a "worse before it gets better" situation. Frustrating, I know, but just think how awesome they'll look at the end!!

Re: New Problem
Your bite is going to be crooked/off for a looooong time during your bracing, I'm afraid. Your teeth need to move around in order to get to their correct position, so what you're experiencing is absolutely normal. It will work itself out alright. I tend to clench when I sleep, too; moreso since I st...

Re: Can I do it?
I am amazed, and so proud of you!! :-** If it's any consolation to you: I've been braced since April 2010. In May 2011 I was given a .018 wire, and 2 months later, I was given another wire (called a TMA wire) in a different material (not sure what size; could be the same .018, or maybe one up from t...

Re: Can I do it?
I must say, that's a rather ingenious idea you guys came up with: not telling you when your next appointment is until a few hours before. You're lucky you're able to get away from work on such short notice! I was all set to tell you that maybe it might be best for your psyche to just remove the brac...

Re: OK--This was not the plan!
Hey Klo - I do follow the Twilight movies, and as bad as the acting is in those films, nothing compares to the HORRIBLE acting in "Magic Mike", which I saw last night. Oh Lordy! Had I been by myself, I would've walked out halfway through. All the good scenes were shown in the commercials. ...

Re: OK--This was not the plan!
Klo - I just replied to your PM... And the answer to your question is "NO, they can NEVER torture you enough!" They always have something else up their sleeve. And they're very sly about it - while you're lying there, completely helpless, they just start thowing hooks, bands, and whatever ...

Awww... thanks, Mike! Maybe I should put braces on the rest of me, so my face and body will match up with my teeth. LOL!iBorg wrote:Your teeth are beautiful. While I'm happy with mine, yours are going to make you look like a fashion model!

Cathy: At least go for the purple power chain! Might as well enjoy it this one LAST time. Mike Dude! I'm wearing purple NOW! http://i811.photobucket.com/albums/zz38/catgyrl68/4683a69e.jpg Oh... you mean PURPLE, PURPLE! The dark one? Hmmm... have to think about that. I think I liked my dark blue one...

Thanks, everyone for the supportive comments! Gillyweed - You crazy! You want me to pi$$ off my orthodontist even more by asking for rainbow ligs? LOL! And with my luck, I would ask him for that and the following month, he'd tell me "One more month..." Actually, I don't wear ligs anymore -...

Re: Angel269's Story
Angel29 - Congrats to you! I'm with you: the worst part about braces, to me, is the food getting stuck everywhere. I used to go crazy trying to get all of it out at once. Now... If it's not visible to others, it can wait until after my meal. As for your broken bracket, that's fairly common. One of m...

Re: Advice needed - prohealth damage
The so-called "whitening" toothpastes that are sold really only remove surface stains. They don't contain enough of the ingredience like are in Crest Whitestrips that bleach teeth. I specifically asked my ortho about this, and he said they would be fine to use. I used them for a few months...

Re: Approx 36 Hours to go......
I'm glad to hear your fears were alleviated a bit by talking with that woman. I LOVE talking about my braces! (Much to the dismay of my family and friends, who couldn't give a darn.) I've had many a cashier at the supermarket ask me about them, and tell me about their kids who need braces... who sti...
