Re: Brace day tomorrow....

Congratulations clairelouise, I am another Brit who was also embarrassed to have a brace fitted. I too had a ceramic upper brace.I have just finished after 18 months and am really pleased. The whole process was much easier than I expected and most people did not even notice the ceramic brace and I ...

Re: Do you eat candy or gum? re: Horrible taste!

I have this horrible taste in my mouth all of the time since being braced. I know its from the TAD's....I can rub my tounge on the metal bar in the back of my mouth plus the powerchains. Yeah, metal and rubber dont taste the best. Anyone else have this issue and how did you fix it? Oh dear, I am ge...

Re: Is your life on hold?

Life is good until in an instant your whole life is turned upside down and you're virtually homeless and you're like okay where do I put this WaterPik? And you're just trying to hold it together and not forget to make your car payments in all the hysteria so you're like, what's an adjustment and wh...

Can you call and ask if they would like to see you, or maybe they could give you advice over the phone?

Re: first adjustment

Since you're in Cali, maybe this isn't too late. Ibuprofen might be a good idea BEFORE the adjustment.

Next thing you know they will be saying dental hygiene prevents global warming. It's the cure-all du jour.

In a way, it's true. When you get these babies slapped on your choppers it's not forever, but it seems like it. They take a lot of care and a lot of things change. Then lo and behold 2013 turns out to be the year everything including the kitchen sink gets thrown at you. But you still have to drag yo...

Re: Elastics, OMG OUCH!

I know a little about this :D . Elastics are the work of the devil. I still lisp if I am not careful with them, sounding somewhat affected. I get distracted and try to brush my teeth with them in. I was walking with a colleague to lunch yesterday, and as we walked across the parking lot I removed th...

Re: New to Braces

Congratulations! I pretty much follow instructions from the ortho and the hygeinist and things seem to be going well. I have become obsessive with oral hygiene as well, several posts here on that topic. A dentist on my team at work says that good oral hygeine avoids the creation of any inflammation...

Re: Shopping list...

I agree with nearly everything that has been offered. The portable waterpik was a disappointment to me, as it just did not seem to have the horsepower of the waterflosser model waterpik that I have at home, and did not have a sufficient reservoir for the water. Then it fell off my office shelf, and...
