Re: Can't get Floss Between Teeth!!!

I’ve always used “Crest Glide Floss”... even prior to braces. It’s not stringy, and it’s more like satin floss. I’ve literally never had a single issue flossing. Sometimes if teeth have just moved it may be a bit tender, but I can always get it in. Maybe try that type of floss? I’ve had the dentist ...

Re: Braces story - 28 years old

An 11 month progress picture. These days progress pictures are the only thing getting me through. It feels like I’ve had braces FOREVER. I’m incredibly sick of them. At my next appointment on April 16th I’m going to ask if everything is on track still to be completed by the original 24 months estima...

Yes, my canine brackets are in fact the same as the rest.

Re: Questions about canine and central incisor brackets

I’m 90% sure my canine brackets have the same profile as the rest. I’m just out right now, but I am going take a closer look when I get home in about 2 hours and get back to you.

Re: Ugh. Help. Is this a normal part of the process? Just about ready to quit treatment.

The good news is that neither your perio nor your ortho have mentioned it, and they've been "up close and personal" very recently, and even if you think the ortho isn't looking that far up, I'd assume the perio is since that's all part of the gum tissue, which is their balliwick. Thanks f...

Ugh. Help. Is this a normal part of the process? Just about ready to quit treatment.

So, I’ve noticed that it looks like part of the tooth root on one of my premolars is visible under the gum. This premolar was really rotated a few months ago, so I’m not sure if that has something to do with it. I assume it’s not fully in the bone which is why it’s visible. Is this a normal part of ...

Re: What is an elastic above the brackets for?

Oh. I just figured out what this is. I feel so silly. There is no elastic above the brackets. It’s the o-ties. My o-ties go from one bracket to another. Definitely didn’t see it like that  They are stretched right across to the next tooth. No wonder a couple snap as she puts them on lol

Re: Braces story - 28 years old

Progress pics.

I’m hoping my front teeth will level out sometime soon. I am happy with my progress so far though. I think it’s made a big difference. My smile is definitely wider, and the teeth are straighter by a long shot.

Re: Braces story - 28 years old

Adjustment day - it’s been about 10 and a half months in braces. It’s been a month since my gum graft, so I had my ortho adjustment today. I was a bit nervous just because the graft is doing good, but it’s still healing. The adjustment went fine. I received some really good feedback. He said my top ...

Re: Stainless steel wire and reverse curve

Wow you are flying through the arch wires in such a short time. I am actually quite jealous. I just got my first SS wire on top at 10 months in (16x22). My lower is still a niti wire (16x16). It’s not cooperating down there lol. You must be making great progress. I’m sorry to hear about your increas...

Re: Braces story - 28 years old

Gum graft/frenectomy update. I had my post op appointment. She said it all healed really well. Taking the remaining stitches out pinched a little. I can go back to my electric toothbrush, but just not brush the one spot!!!! I am so happy. I can also now floss my teeth properly. I had a hard time flo...

Re: Braces story - 28 years old

Glad to hear it went smoothly! Enjoy some ice cream ;) Wow, were you ever right about the mind game wondering if food or something is messing with it. I feel like I have food stuck there ALLLLL the time but I am just leaving it and rinsing lightly with salt water after I eat. That's the best I can ...

Re: Braces story - 28 years old

Gum graft and frenectomy. I had my minor surgery done a couple hours ago. I was pretty surprised with how easy the procedure was. I was seriously SO nervous. The worst part was the freezing for sure, which wasn't even really all that terrible. I mean there was some pain, but it could have been worse...

Re: What is an elastic above the brackets for?

Looks like redundant arch-wires and an elastomer chain. Hi! What do you mean by the redundant arch wire? I see the power chain and stainless steel wire that go all the way across the top arch, but the straight elastic on top of the brackets is only on the front 8 teeth. I’m wondering if it is to le...

What is an elastic above the brackets for?

Hi!

I had an adjustment today. There’s an elastic that runs above my brackets. Does anyone know what that does??? This is my first stainless steel wire if that matters.
See the picture below.
