I will be really interested to hear how you get on with this. There's hardly anything about it on the net. If you get them, can you please post some pics?

I see it the other way round, though. If I floss with unbrushed teeth, I feel like I'm pulling "dirt" from my teeth into my interdental spaces with the floss. So I brush to get the surfaces of my teeth as clean as possible. Then I go round the brackets with the interdental brush. So all my...

I chop and change. I used Dentyl PH for a while, but I started to find it a bit gag-tastic. It left my mouth feeling greasy, and it took forever to remove all the green strands from my wires and brackets. At the moment I buy Listerine if it's on special and I add a slug to the water in my Waterpik, ...

Chew anything as long as it's not too hard or sticky. Sugar free gum is what I use, but just getting yourself back to a normal diet will work wonders for the discomfort. You can cut food up small if it's still painful to actually bite into things. Your ortho might have bite wafers or tell you where ...

Kitty, headgear and appliances such as the nance in my picture, are normally used to hold the molars in position or move them back slightly, to allow the top front teeth to be brought back into extraction gaps. Where is is very important that the molars do not come forward, appliances like this are ...

It depends on how complex your treatment is, and where in the country you are. I only have regular braces (all metal) and mine was about £4000 too, but the average cost is about 3K. An average treatment time is 18 months to 2 years. Invisalign is not suitable if you have more than very minor bite p...

Is it a nance appliance, like this? Or is it similar, but without the plastic button (called a palatal bar or TPA) http://i72.photobucket.com/albums/i192/garlicpickle/Teeth/upper100808.jpg That pic is from my blog. I've been wearing one almost continually for 2 years. It is hard to get used to at fi...

Honestly, it's fine. Often, second molars are not brought into the arch until much later in treatment, if at all. Sometimes they are never braced. I know what you mean about not liking things to be asymmetrical (I'm the same), but the wires used early in treatment are not strong enough to move molar...

I've just passed the 2 year mark and I maybe have another year to do, if everything goes to plan. The only thing that irritates me and makes me want them off is the cleaning. I brush my teeth thoroughly at least twice a day and I floss maybe 4x a week. But yesterday I still had to spend an hour scra...

Where do you live? Consultation appointments are often free in the US, but in the UK you will pay £70-80 for a consultation.

You can't buy that stuff in the UK. Ortho suppliers are not allowed to sell to the public. However, I bought some coloured powerchains on ebay from a seller called orthodealer (he's in the US but ships internationally) and my ortho was happy to use them.
