Re: tonuge crib

thanks for the reply. I am 51. so far, no too bad, though still drooling quite a bit and lisp is noticeable. Appliance itself is fairly comfortable. I'm doing some exercises to help keep the tongue where it is supposed to be as well. If not enough progress, like you, I will have to get the spurs, po...

Re: A Less Expensive Alternative to Acceledent: BitePod20

adding to this thread in hopes someone who has used the product can pass on any feedback and also if there are links to trials/tests that show its effectiveness. would love to get something to help speed up treatment as acceledent is expensive and you have to go to a ortho who is authorized to get i...

tonuge crib

my dentist and orthodontist have recommended that I get a tongue crib before starting braces. I got the appliance put on today and my orthodontist told me that I would have adjustment period. she said to expect some drooling and some words hard to say, that I'd have a lisp for a while. So far, it is...

Re: How quickly do extraction gaps fill in?

thanks for the note and comments on the extraction. They said it wouldn't take long and are going to pick a tooth that is healthy with no issues or root problems. Will keep everyone posted on what happens and if the power chains and headgear end up in my future!

Re: How quickly do extraction gaps fill in?

for those who have gotten extractions, did you have power chains and if so, how long did you have to wear them? I am waiting for ortho to make final call on extraction of lower tooth for me to help with treatment. Her initial view was yes and that I'd need 8 - 10 months to close the gap, but wanted ...

great to have you on the board - as someone getting ready to start the braces experience as an adult, like having you as a resource. This is so new to me and a bit overwhelming to digest everything.

Back to site - braces happening soon

All - i was on this site over a year ago when I first was considering braces. But, a sleep apnea diagnosis meant a delay, but the treatment for that is wrapping up in another month or so and then I get full braces on. Part of my last apnea treatment has me going to orthodontist to get a tongue crib ...

Re: Braces in my thirties

Just read your blog - not sure if you have the braces off yet, but hopefully soon if not. My wife is just finishing braces and had similar views to you - yes, it hurts a lot quite often, but the improvement to her teeth and bite have been amazing. She was afraid at first, but finally took the plunge...

Re: New here, Newly Braced and 1st post!

Welcome to the forum - hope you make it through the next few weeks and are getting acclimated to the braces. My wife has them now and her first two weeks were pretty awful, but then the pain subsided and other than elastics not being fun, she has adapted well. She had that wiggly feeling in her teet...

Re: Braces at 41

Welcome to the board. I have just rejoined as was supposed to get them over a year ago and had to wait due to some sleep apnea issues. Im 51 and getting mine in two months. Clear on top aad metal on bottom is the plan unless i end up having to have tooth removed on top due to crowding, then its meta...

Re: Best ligatures for ceramic uppers?

i am getting metal on my lowers, but the plan is for adding uppers half way through and those would be ceramic most likely. the orthodontist said that the smoke/medium gray hide stains best - am too a coffee drinker and that was concern of mine

Re: Estimated time for braces

I was told to prepare for 18 months since an older adult, the ortho said my teeth would take longer to move. I've got moderate crowding and a bit of an overbite.

Re: Bracing myself at 53!

just read your posts - caught my eye as I'm 50 and getting braces on in November - all set to get them, but have to take care of a root canal/crown on a upper molar first. have selected Damon clear on top and metal on bottom based on ortho recommendation. My crowding negated invisilign as an option ...

Re: Ceramic on top and Metal on bottom or ALL METAL?

good luck to you on next Friday - my records day is two weeks from today!

Also, saw some comments on here on "power chains" - have heard this, but not sure exactly what they are used for and are they on all types of braces?
