I agree - in one sense, braces are indeed boring. Course, I find the science and what can be achieved perfectly fascinating, but that's just because I'm a geek!

About the wax--every time I have initially been braced I was given some wax(and other stuff).

I would definitely address your concern with the ortho when you go on Thursday. I know that they can sometimes tweak the wires near the back molars so that they are more comfortable(had a lower hawley for some time after braces off first time....) Maybe the splint is not holding your teeth in the sa...

My second time in braces I often had really light blue or gray powerchains, and both were rather stain resistant.
