Re: overbite worse - flared teeth
I had flared upper central incisors prior to braces due to my underbite. The orthodontist did some IPR and put bends in the wire to flatten them out. They’re not completely straight but it’s as best as it’s gonna be. They’re definitely much better than before.

Re: Am I losing this tooth too?
Firstly, to echo what Emily said, you likely signed a contract with your former ortho that has stipulations that would absolve her of blame. My contract definitely does. They do CYA quite thoroughly considering just how many things can go wrong. As for the root canal, I’m no dentist, but I would ima...

Re: Regrets?
Remember that negative stories tend to overshadow. The positive stories on the internet, so I would take everything you read on the internet with a large pinch of salt. I’m not saying that people who regret getting braces are naysayers—I’m sure many who do regret braces have understandable reasons. ...

Re: can an ortho who has like hundreds of positive google reviews
It takes time (lots of time!) for braces to work. Teeth do not always move in a logical manner. My teeth were worse before they got better, and my right front tooth was longer than my left for a long while before my orthodontist fixed it. Trust your orthodontist and give it time. Movement this early...

Re: Will my send journey be swifter?
Alignment is mainly done with the initial thin wire, not thick ones. The thicker wires are for doing minor tweaks and setting the roots. As well, orthodontists won’t start patients off on a thick wire—your teeth has to align itself first and “get used” to wearing braces again. Second time in braces ...

Re: so i had a long talk with my ortho
I’ve had my braces on for close to 18 months now, and it is only within the last 2-3 months that my bite feels “right” and comfortable. I started with a mild underbite (edge-to-edge teeth) and a crossbite, and my bite was “fine” pre braces. As my teeth shifted and straightened, my bite changed, and ...

Re: Pictures of braces results and Going for second opinion
I see the flaring and the slightly crooked tooth. Despite those two things, I think your teeth looks fine. You may need extraction to fix the flaring, if you chose to do braces again. It’s entirely up to you of course, but I wouldn’t do a second round of braces if I were you.

Re: Same bracket just popped off for FOURTH time!
I wonder if your crown wasn’t prepped correctly for bracket placement. The tech told me they prepare crowns differently for gluing on brackets when compared to “regular” teeth. The brackets on my two crowns have stayed put, 16 months and counting.
What you experienced is certainly frustrating!

Re: Root resorption
An update for those of you following: I went to my scheduled orthodontist appointment today, and after explaining what had happened during my dentist appointment, the orthodontist opted to take his own set of panoramic X Ray (the X Rays that my dental office had sent over we’re bite wings, and he an...

Re: Extractions and braces, positive stories, panicking
Orthodontic work overall takes time and closing gaps takes a while. The gaps will close, don’t worry. I also would take things you read online with an enormous pinch of salt. You’re gonna read lots more negative things about extractions than positive because people with positive results just don’t t...

Re: Root resorption
You need a new orthodontist. There are a lot of good, competent and kind orthodontists around. Don't give up looking and settle for the one you obviously cannot work with. I know... I'll be actively looking again to see if someone else can take me in, even if that means removing current braces and ...

“The road to hell is paved with good intentions” would be the English equivalent!pcspinheiro wrote: ↑Fri Jul 20, 2018 9:20 am But then again, we have a saying in Portugal that goes something like "of good intentions is hell aplenty", and I guess that goes to say that misguided good intentions are as evil as bad intentions.

Re: Root resorption
When is your next appointment? Perhaps it's not alarming to your ortho because not much movement is left to be made with those teeth now considering how close you already are to the end? I have read that the resorption stops when the forces that caused it stops. Don't panic, Things may not be that ...

Re: Root resorption
Called the orthodontist office today. They received the X-Rays, and they said to keep my appointment schedule as it is. They don’t need to see me any sooner. So I’m guessing the X-Rays weren’t that alarming to the orthodontist? I have no idea but I trust that both my dentist and orthodontist know wh...

Re: Root resorption
I got X rays done at the orthodontist last October (at the 6 month mark) and I was told to keep flossing to prevent further bone loss at the time. The dentist said it’s fine if I talk to the orthodontist on the next visit in August, so I don’t know how severe this is. Some articles on the internet s...
