Re: Jem's belated story
Tilly, I'm sure your ortho will offer you fixed and/or essix retainers if that is what you prefer. I think hawleys are less common nowadays, at least in the UK. I would not have wanted a hawley for 24/7 wear because of the aesthetics. But to wear at home to supplement my bonded retainer I have found...

Re: My braces story at 24 yrs old!
How did your ortho find the space to get all your bottom front teeth in line? Amazing progress!

Re: Jem's belated story
Hi JPG ! Thank you for reading my story. I am pleased to hear you have also completed your active treatment. I still have the essix retainer. I never wear it but I keep it as back up should the need ever arise. I originally paid extra for an additional hawley which I understood would be more durable...

Are the photos upside down because you are in Australia?

Re: Braces combined with removable appliances
Not me. But there have been people on this site who have combined fixed braces with removable bite plates. With regard to expanders, it would seem that orthodontists usually combine fixed expanders with fixed braces or provide removable expanders before fixed braces rather than at the same time.

Re: Damon braces questions
Movement need not be associated with pain. I had damon braces and only felt a bit of pressure-certainly not pain-after maybe 3 of a dozen or so adjustments. 6 or 7 weeks between adjustments is perfectly normal and your teeth will be moving throughout those weeks even if you are not feeling any press...

Teachers are mostly human; I reckon a word with your teacher will probably get you excused for a little while. In the meantime get as much practice speaking elsewhere as you can and you will soon be speaking close to normally again.
Good luck!

Re: Fixed retainer on front of teeth?
Your older posts suggest that you had your braces removed several years ago and that you have hawley retainers as well as fixed. If your upper fixed retainer is prone to being loosened by contact with your bottom teeth, why not just get it removed? You shouldn't need 24/7 retention so long after your...

Re: 10 Years After Braces
It is 6 years this month since I had my brace fitted and 4 1/2 years since it was removed. I have a bonded retainer and also wear a hawley every night. My teeth have not moved at all and the retainer regime is no problem. Glad I did it!

Re: Bend/Dip in Archwire? What does it do? (step up/step down?)
The bend looks as if it is designed to move your lateral incisor down/outwards. It is not completely possible to tell with a photo from one angle only. Trust your ortho-I'm sure you will see movement in the right direction soon. Good luck with the rest of your treatment-your teeth look pretty good a...

Re: My Second Braces Journey @ 24
Your teeth look great-just like to models the orthodontist shows you before getting braces.
If your orthodontist tells you why your brackets are so close to the gum line, I would be interested to know.
Good luck with your treatment. I can't see it taking as long as you have been quoted.
