Hi NikNax,
There is no such thing as " tightening" these days. With the Damon system you will just get a new wire from time to time- and perhaps elastics or powerchains in due course.
Good luck with your treatment.

Remarkable progress! Will you have some IPR to enable the left lateral to squeeze into line?
I look forward to seeing future progress pics

Re: Retainer Waiting Period
That sounds a long time to wait. I had a fixed retainer placed immediately before my brace came off followed by impressions for both essix and hawley. I received the essix the following day, which I only used on a temporary basis, and the hawley after two weeks. Will you be getting a hawley or essix...

Re: Fixing a retainer
Yes your ortho should be able to send it back to the technician who made it for repair. Do you have an essix you can use in the meantime?

I would guess it should be an upside down U but suggest you call your ortho. I'm sure this is a question they will get all the time from new patients.
Good luck with your treatment.

Re: SARPE Relapse
I would certainly recommend getting an early appointment with your ortho before you have any further relapse.I imagine refitting your RPE would resolve your relapse and perhaps you could keep it for a few months to help retain the expansion you have achieved. Alternatively, could your ortho offer yo...

Re: Finally about to get braces at 19 years old...!
Free braces for children in the UK on the NHS are only available if your malocclusion is deemed sufficiently serious. Therefore many children in the UK do not qualify for free treatment. But I suspect this may only have been more strictly applied in recent years. I hope your 4k turns out to be a goo...

Re: Drinking alcohol with braces?
Assuming the club believes you are over 21 and lets you in, I would say drink as much as you can of whatever you want! Habitual drinking of sweet sugary drinks is bad for your teeth and dental hygiene is all the more important with braces, hence your ortho's ban, but if you brush thoroughly after yo...

Re: Braces off...teeth shifting
Upper bonded retainers are not suitable for everyone. In some cases your bottom front teeth will clash with them; it depends on how deep your bite is. I have an upper bonded retainer and it works well. But I still wear a hawley at night too. I believe that gaps between upper central incisors are par...

Re: Retainers?!
I got the "for as long as you want straight teeth" answer too. I have both a bonded retainer and a removable hawley ( my preference over essix) to wear at night. For the first 6 months I was told to wear the hawley 12/24 and than 8/24 for the next 6 months. When I had my final appointment 1...

I would call my ortho asap with a view to getting a bonded retainer. I have had one on my upper teeth for 3 1/2 years and it has been fine.

No. The pictures are not very clear, but I can see that your front teeth are straightening out.

Re: Removable Expander Issues
Dear Crowdedmouth, Why not ask your ortho why your appliance needs to be so thick behind your front teeth? The thickness may be necessary for some bite plate type function designed to keep your molars apart. But if it is not, you could ask your ortho to grind some of the acrylic off to make it thinn...

You are welcome. I hope I didn't sound too harsh. You seem to have a good sense of humour and I'm sure that will help you through this process.

Re: Just saying hello
Hi Steph30, Your bite plate is probably there mainly to correct a deep bite rather than protect brackets. The idea is that the bite plate keeps your molars apart and the molars have space to extrude spontaneously, thus correcting your deep bite. If you do not wear the bite plate consistently this ma...
