Re: Waxed floss or unwaxed floss is better with braces
Thanks! I am sure once I try I'll figure it out -- if I get wired braces, that is.Mpkh wrote:You thread the floss under the wire and then floss as normal.

Re: Waxed floss or unwaxed floss is better with braces
How in the world do you floss around wired braces? Invisalign, obviously, you just remove the aligners, but I can't begin to imagine how to get floss up under the gum line with traditional brackets & wires. What am I missing? (Note: I don't have braces yet but will be getting them soon; that's w...

I am in the same boat. Can understand new users not being able to post pics, but not sure I understand why we can't view them. Oh well, I will get there!

Re: New here!
I am new too and a lot older than you. :-) I am currently in the waiting stage for an ortho consult since having oral surgery in May. I fractured my jaw in a bike accident, and my oral surgeon says I am going to need braces to finish the work he started (jaw wiring with arch bars). I agree as my bit...

Re: Getting Braces in Mexico - Save $$$
If anyone has any orthodontist recommendations in Playa del Carmen (or anywhere else in the Riviera Maya, for that matter), I'd love to hear them. My husband and I love that area, and I would certainly consider getting braces there instead of the US if it would mean a cost savings -- so long as the ...

Re: Getting braces, duration of the treatment 30 months?!
Have you gotten a second opinion from a different orthodontist? From what I see on here, it's not uncommon for people to have two (or even more) consultations with different orthos before deciding on one.

Re: Older adults seeking surgery
15 surgeries!?!?!? I am one of the older folks here (just joined recently). I am 56 and had a bike accident in April that fractured my jaw in three places. So my surgery was not for congenital or cosmetic reasons but just to align my lower jaw back to the upper. I was wired together followed...

Re: Preparing for braces at age 56
Thanks, Prometheus. The thought of having to give up over 2 years of my life (on top of the several months I already have since my accident) is not super appealing. I have heard that sometimes Invisalign can be quicker than standard brackets, but I would have to feel comfortable re. root reabsorptio...

Can Invisalign help with bite issues?
Hi ~~ I wrote an intro post in another sub-forum. In a nutshell, I fractured my jaw in a cycling accident this spring and had to have it wired together while it was healing. My Oral Surgeon has been saying all along that I would need ortho. treatment after I am done with his care. First he mentioned...

Preparing for braces at age 56
Hi everyone ~~ first-time poster here. Please be kind. ;-) I had a bicycle accident in April and fractured my jaw in three places. In the past couple of months I have been through jaw-wiring with arch bars (first wired, then with elastics). Before the jaw wiring, I could only touch a couple of teeth...
